When Jesus the Light is Hiding

The Father put His Light in Jesus and Jesus put His Light in you

The Light that is in you is what gives hope to others

Yes, God could come down with billions of angels 

(I have no idea how many angels there are) 

and do miracles in every person’s life 24/7

But He wants us to become Children of God, Children of Light

The disciples were known by Jesus

But after Jesus went to the Father, Jesus was known by His disciples

God wants you to be “Sons of Light”

That can only happen if He hides from you

Will your Light shine when you feel alone?

When Jesus the Light is Hiding

When my kids were young, people would say…

 “There is Bill Self’s kids.”

As we all got older and my kids

made their own friends and influences,

people would say…

 “There is Sarah’s dad, Julie’s dad or Marty’s dad.”

I was the light that eclipsed the light of my

children, but now their light has eclipse my light.

As my children exercised the things they learned

at home and went out on their own, they were tested.

The test was how they would handle life without me.

Many times we, as parents, will watch

our children from around the corner.

We will hide from them to see

how they handle life’s situations.

Our hiding is not to give our

children a fear of abandonment…

But to give them opportunity

to handle life on their own.

Sadly, many of us as parents take too much control

and our children never learn to handle life on their own.

Two of my granddaughters

are now old enough to drive.

For 16 plus years their parents chauffeured

them everywhere they went.

Neither one of granddaughters wants to

drive, but responsibility demands they

do what they don’t want to do.

    

When they were young they got in the car and

never thought about keys, brake and gas pedal.

They did not think about traffic lights and turns.

But now when they get in the car all

the issues of driving are on their minds

because they will soon have their

own license and be on their own.

My live verse is…

 “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you…”

When I was walking across the street to get

the mail and was hit by a truck, I laid in the street.

I was alone I did not feel God, I felt pain.

I knew God was there, but He was hiding

watching me from around the corner.

God has hid from me many times…

 So I was confident God knew

I could handle the situation.

So I said to myself, “If I don’t help myself nobody will”.

 So I got up and made it to the house.

It felt so good to know God had confidence in me.

Overcoming that night in the street gave me

confidence I could handle what was to come.

The investment God had made in my life

gave me the strength to handle my crises.

When Jesus was on the cross,

 it was His darkest hour.

In that hour He said…

 “My God, My God why have you forsaken Me?”

In Jesus’ darkest hour, God was hiding.

God could have sent 10,000 angels, but God hid.

Why?  So that Jesus’ Light could shine in His darkest hour.

 

  This is the message Jesus was

teaching His disciples in John 12:35-36…

Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going. Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons of light." When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them. 

Jesus was telling His disciples that the Light

 they had walked in was only going to

be with them a little longer.

So He says…

 

Put your trust in the light while you have it,

 so that you may become sons of light.

“So that you may become Light.”

After Jesus said this, He left and hid Himself.

Jesus knew where they were but

they did not know where He was.

Next time you feel like God is hiding from you

know He is removing His Light

so that your Light might shine.

God’s Light always eclipses our Light,

so God hides so your Light might shine.

Because the Light in you has come from Him.

The Father put His Light in Jesus

and Jesus put His Light in you.
