Light “Let Your Light Shine Before Men”

Light
“Let Your Light Shine Before Men”

How do we let our Light shine?
Everybody is talking about how to fix the problems
I too am tired of all the talk
But “Good Deeds” show how it is done
Everybody has the answers but who is living it out
Remember fools run off at the month
But the wise get the job done
Talk is cheap
So please do not cheapen God’s Word
Live it out – prove it works
That is the type of Light the world needs

“Let Your Light Shine Before Men”

How do we let our Light shine?

I read a Facebook post that troubled me.

It came from someone I care about.

Around this person are family that create a lot
of drama from their strong atheist point of view.

The post said…

Needless to say this post troubled me.

The last statement was…

 “I’m pro-mind your own d… business!”

It was so hard not to respond.

But I know what a Facebook
response would look like.

Battle lines would be drawn.

And a fight would end up with
deep wounds on both sides.

When I see posts like this one and
other anti-Christ posts, I naturally
want to rise up and defend the faith.

I want to shine the Light of
God’s Word right in their eyes.

Blinding others with the Light of Truth
won’t change anything because
the blind are already blind.

So what does God want us to do when family
and friends make anti-Christ statements?

I am not calling anyone an anti-Christ.

I am only referring to statements that would
be anti the words and teachings of Christ.

Jesus tells us…

"You are the Light of the world…”

Jesus gives us some wise instruction
on how our Light is to shine.

We need to remember our Light is not to be hid…

“…A city on a hill cannot be hidden.”

“Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.”

Our Light is to shine, so how do we shine?

Two examples are given in Matthew 5…

A light of a city and a light of a lamp.

We need to be a part of a City, the People of God.

Our Light identity is part of a Community.

We are to be seen as a Community, but in the
Community we have our own houses.

There are times we are the only Lamp in the room.

We need to know how to shine as
the Church as well as on our own.

What does the Light do?

The City on the Hill reveals
many people, but one Light.

The City is a place you can safely go to when in
the dark, because the Light allows all to see.

When night comes where would you rather be…

In the Dark Valley or the Illuminated City on the Hill?

Jesus also says we are Lamps.

The example is a lamp in a room.

The lamp allows all in the room to see.
Light is to give others the ability to see.

Jesus tells us what others are to see from our Light…

“let your light shine before men,
that they may see your good deeds
and praise your Father in heaven.

Our Light is not words of debate.

Our Light is good deeds.

You and I know God’s Word
is a Lamp unto our Feet.

But to a world in darkness the
Word of God does not mean much.

In fact, many love the debate of words.

But when people “see your good deeds
they see the Word in action.

Words are meant to be spoken.

 But those words are idle
until put into action.

I can understand why people would say…

“I’m pro-mind your own d… business!”

Because all of us are sick and
tired of all the talk and debate...

The arguments and slander.

Everybody is talking about how to fix the problems.

I too am tired of all the talk.

But “Good Deeds” show how it is done.

Everybody has the answers…

But who is living it out?

Remember fools run off at the month.

But the wise get the job done.

Talk is cheap.

So please do not cheapen God’s Word.

Live it out – prove it works.

That is the type of Light the world needs.

Scripture Reading

 Matthew 5:14-16 NIV

14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
