Light The Light of Your Face

Light
The Light of Your Face

This may sound elementary but the best way to see the light of God’s face
Is to turn around and seek His face
If we do, we too will find confidence to get victory
I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13
Where does our strength come from?
“The light of Your face, for you loved them.” Psalm 44:3
Does your face need some light?
Are you looking at His face?

The Light of Your Face

What do you think of when you hear the words…

 “Their face light up”

We think of joy, happiness,
excitement, pleasure, etc.

We love to give gifts to children because
we love to see their faces light up.

When everyone is silent as they wait
for that someone they love to come
unexpectantly through the door
and the people shout, “Surprise”.

What are they looking for? …

The face of their friend to light up.

One of the most rewarding ways you
can serve in a church is to be a greeter.

You have the opportunity to give a smile…

To let your face light up and
make others feel welcomed.

The greeter is rewarded with
lighting up the faces of others.

Smiles are like a spark that spreads.

A smile expresses love and acceptance.

Who are the most attractive people?

The ones whose faces light up.

Psalms 44 verse 3 says…

It was not by their sword that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them victory;
it was your right hand, your arm,
and the light of your face, for you loved them.

What gave the people of God victory?

The light of Your face, for You loved them.”

Smiles from loved ones have motivated me.

It is amazing the things we do
because someone’s face lights up.

When God’s face lights up, we
gain confidence to do great things.

When we see His favor, that desire in His
heart to see you succeed and have joy.

If you have ever had a dark day when
you know you have failed, you can
appreciate the days God’s face shines on you.

In 1979, archaeologists excavating a tomb near Jerusalem discovered
two small silver scrolls that recorded this priestly blessing from Numbers 6.
The scrolls we redated to the 7th century B.C.,
making them oldest written Scriptures we have found.”

The oldest scrolls we have,
have preserved the blessing Aaron and the
priests were to give the people of God…

“The Lord make His face shine on you.”

Today some pastors still end the church service with…

“The Lord make His face shine on you.”

So what does it mean?

These words are a declaration.

They express a desire for God
to shine His face upon us.

Like Aaron and the priests,
we should have a desire for
God’s smile to shine on others.

It means we should not forget the importance
of seeking the shining face of God.

For God, it means showing us a shining
face when we don’t deserve it.

Throughout the Old Testament, we see the people
of God fail and live lives of disappointment.

You can read over and over again,
God speaking to the issues of sin and failure
and ending with words of hope and comfort.

These words in Romans…

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

Paul illustrates this so
powerfully in 1 Timothy…

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance:
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners — of whom I am the worst.
But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners,
Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those
who would believe on him and receive eternal life.
1 Timothy 1:15-16

If you remember the story
 when the Light of God
shown on Paul, it blinded him.

WOW!!!

The worst of all sinners got
the shiniest face of God.

Not because Paul deserved it…

But because God is great in mercy
not willing that any should perish.

So God causes His face to
shine on the undeserving.

 When we accept His Light,
it will light up our face as well.

God is also a God of Grace.

His face lights up when we please Him.

Jesus grew in Grace with God and Man.

We can bring on the shining
face of God when we please Him.

This may sound elementary…

But the best way to see the Light of God’s
face is to turn around and seek His face.

If we do, we too will find confidence to get victory…

I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13

Where does our strength come from? …

“The light of Your face, for you loved them.”
