Light Give Light to My Eyes

Light
Give Light to My Eyes

This world is full of trouble
Whether it is the trouble reported in the news
Or, the trouble in our personal lives
Days of a heavy heart and times of losing the battle are a part of this world
David had those days
In Psalms 13 David is having one of those times when his world is full of trouble
David says, “How long, O Lord?”
David is not sure his trouble will ever go away and asks God
“Will you forget me forever?”
David realizes only one thing can bring light to his eyes
An answer from the Lord
In your troubled world you need only one thing
An answer from the Lord
Read Psalms 13 to find out how to get the answer

Give Light to My Eyes

This world is full of trouble.

Whether it is the trouble reported in the news.

Or, the trouble in our personal lives.

Days of a heavy heart…

And times of losing the battle
are a part of this world.

David had those days.

In Psalms 13, David is having one of those
times when his world is full of trouble.

David says… “How long, O Lord?”

David is not sure his trouble
will ever go away and asks God…

“Will you forget me forever?”

David is wrestling with his
thoughts and his enemies.

When the battle is being lost in your mind
you are on the edge of destruction.

David seems to be at that place.

Day and night he searched for
answers but he still felt hopeless.

David’s eyes only see darkness.

David realized there is only
one thing that will help him.

Only one thing and he says…

Give light to my eyes,
or I will sleep in death
v 3

David realized only one thing
will bring light to his eyes.

Only one thing will remove
the darkness in his world.

What is the one thing?

An answer from the Lord…

“Look on me and answer, O LORD my God”

When our world is full of trouble…

When the darkness of hopelessness
fills our eyes…

Only one thing will bring light back to our eyes.

The answer from the Lord.

Sometime the answer comes as a solution.

Other times the answer is His voice saying…

“I am with you”.

The answer from the Lord is
what brings light to our eyes.

David ends this Psalms with the direction
he will take until the answer comes…

But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the LORD,
for he has been good to me.

“BUT” no matter how dark
and troublesome, David says…

I trust in your unfailing love.

His heavy heart rejoices in your salvation.

David does not forget God “has”
been good to him. (past tense)

For David, that is good enough to sing to the Lord.

David realized if you need an answer from the
Lord, you need to prepare a habitation for Him.

The answer from the Lord is
what brings light to our eyes.

To get the answer…

 Prepare a habitation for Him.

Trust in His love, rejoice in your heart,
and sing to the Lord because
He has been good to you in the past.

Scripture Reading

Psalm 13 NIV

How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and every day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?

3 Look on me and answer, O LORD my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;
4 my enemy will say, "I have overcome him,"
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing to the LORD,
for he has been good to me.
