Light Light Up Feet

Light
Light Up Feet

Sandy bought all the grandkid light up shoes as a birthday gift
She had all our kids buy light up shoes as well
She wanted me to get a pair, I said, NO! but she was determined
Sandy planned a family trip to the Cascades Falls in Jackson, Michigan
The cascades are a man-made waterfall
And at night it lights up with lights and music
All 14 of us were to wear the light up shoes
Everyone was excited about wearing them, but me
I am so glad the family talked me into wearing the light up shoes
I had so much fun, the family had so much fun and the crowd had so much fun
Many in the crowd wanted to know where they could get the light up shoes
For you and I to have the Word as a Light unto our feet it will take commitment
Not only to the Word of the Lord
But commitment to enjoy the Light of God’s Word
You will be noticed
People will look, they will point
And many will say where can I get the Light unto my feet

Light Up Feet

One Sunday at church a teenage girl
came to church with light up shoes.

They were flashing and could change color.

When Sandy saw those shoes
she fell in love with them.

When Sandy got home from church
she ordered a pair of light up shoes.

I was so embarrassed.

Whenever she would wear them,
everybody was looking at us, pointing at us,
and many asked where did you get those shoes?

Sandy bought all the grandkid
light up shoes as a birthday gift.

She also had all our adult kids buy light up shoes.

She wanted me to get a pair, I said NO!...

But she can be a determined lady.

Sandy planned a family trip to the
Cascades Falls in Jackson, Michigan.

The cascades are a man-made waterfall
and at night it lights up with lights and music.

All 14 of us were to wear their light up shoes.

Everyone was excited about wearing them, but me.

But being out of town I was sure
no one would recognize me,
so I put on a pair of light up shoes.

At night, we turned on the shoes
and went up and down the falls,
we danced with our shoes
flashing all different colors.

People were taking pictures of us.

We were the envy of everyone…

Because we were having so much fun.

Psalms 119:105 says…

Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light for my path.

I think the Psalmist was like me.

To wear the light on our feet
 would take a commitment.

What would people think?

No one else wears lights on their feet.

It will make me stand out.

Everyone will stare at me.

The Psalmist said…

I have taken an oath and confirmed it,
that I will follow your righteous laws.

The Psalmist took an oath
to wear the Light unto our feet.

He was committed to walk
in the Light of God’s Word.

In verse 112, he says…

My heart is set on keeping
your decrees to the very end.

Not only did he make a commitment
to walk in the Light, but to enjoy it.

Accept, O LORD, the willing praise of my mouth,
and teach me your laws. V. 108

Your statutes are my heritage forever;
they are the joy of my heart. V. 111

I am so glad the family talked me
into wearing the light up shoes.

 I had so much fun,
the family had so much fun
and the crowd had so much fun.

Many in the crowd wanted to know
where they could get the light up shoes.

For you and I to have the Word
as a Light unto our feet
it will take commitment.

Not only to the Word of the Lord
but commitment to enjoy
the Light of God’s Word.

You will be noticed.

People will look.

 They will point.

 And many will ask…

Where can I get the Light unto my feet?

Scripture Reading

Psalm 119:105-112 NIV

Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light for my path.
106 I have taken an oath and confirmed it,
that I will follow your righteous laws.
107 I have suffered much;
preserve my life, O LORD, according to your word.
108 Accept, O LORD, the willing praise of my mouth,
and teach me your laws.
109 Though I constantly take my life in my hands,
I will not forget your law.
110 The wicked have set a snare for me,
but I have not strayed from your precepts.
111 Your statutes are my heritage forever;
they are the joy of my heart.
112 My heart is set on keeping your decrees
to the very end.
