The Instrument of the Knowledge of God

"Save Yourselves From This Corrupt Generation"

By William M. Self, Sr.

It is God’s intent that we go beyond knowledge

And reveal the manifold wisdom of God

By living out what we know

The Instrument of the Knowledge of God

"The only really adequate instrument for learning about God, is the whole Christian community, waiting for Him together. Christian brotherhood is, so to speak, the technical equipment for this science, the laboratory outfit. That is why all these people who turn up every few years with some patent simplified religion of their own as a substitute for the Christian tradition are really wasting time. Like a man who has no instrument but an old pair of field glasses setting out to put all the real astronomers right. He may be a clever chap, he may be cleverer than some of the real astronomers, but he is not giving himself a chance. And two years later everyone has forgotten all about him, but the real science is still going on."

                                                                    C.S. Lewis

The Church is the laboratory to reveal the wisdom of God.

What good is knowledge if it does not produce wisdom.

Wisdom is… the quality of having experience, knowledge,
and good judgment; the quality of being wise”

It is out of the church the “manifold
wisdom of God is to be made known”.

The Church is the laboratory that studies God.

The Church is where the Knowledge
of God is tested and proven.

Each experiment is exercised in faith.

God has removed all racial walls through Jesus by making
Jews and Gentiles one, calling them the Church.  Ephesians 2:14

The scriptures are the recorded manual
handed down from generation to generation.

Everything the Church does is based on
 its understanding of the scriptures.

When we misunderstand or misuse the scriptures,
God shows through our failures His wisdom.

Jesus in His departing prayer prayed
to the Father “that we be one”.

Our unity comes as we are conformed to His image.

This image is the Church, His Body,
 made up of every believer.

It is God’s intent for us the Church…

“to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery,
which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things”

“His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God
should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms”

Therefore, it becomes our responsibility.

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved,
a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who
correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 NIV

Let’s fulfill God’s intent.

Let’s make this generation the generation that
reveals God’s wisdom like never before.

Scripture Reading

Acts 2:37-47 NIV

 "Brothers, what shall we do?"

38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off — for all whom the Lord our God will call."

40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Romans 1:28 AMP
Since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or
approve of Him or consider Him worth the knowing,
God gave them over to a base and condemned mind
to do things not proper or decent but loathsome

Ephesians 3:7-13 NIV
7 I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace given me through the working of his power. 8 Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. 10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, 11 according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.
