“I will pour out my Spirit on all people Your sons and daughters will prophesy”

What On Earth Is God Doing?

By William M. Self, Sr.

You will prophecy!

So where do your words come from

God says He will pour out His Spirit on all

“I will pour out my Spirit on all people
Your sons and daughters will prophesy”

Prophecy and prophets may give some of us concern.

We have heard the predictions of the
return of Christ in 1988 than in 2011.

The prophets we read about in the
Bible did some very strange things.

There are some who take comfort in 1 Corinthians 13:8…

“Where there are prophecies they will cease”

But it is very hard to support that time has come.

So if God is pouring out His spirit and the sons and
daughters are prophesying what does that mean?

The word prophecy means to foretell events, divine,
speak under inspiration, exercise the prophetic office.

Without getting strange thinking about this…

If you or I say, “Jesus Christ is coming again”…
Is that not foretelling an event?

Where did you get that information from? ...

God’s inspired Word the Bible.

Another part of the definition
is “speak under inspiration”.

I pray that every Pastor who stands up in the church to speak has
been before God that week in prayer to find the inspiration to speak.

Some end their statement with… “Thus sayeth the Lord”.

Those words put a lot of weight on the speaker and the hearer.

The Apostle Paul after writing about a matter to
the Corinthians… “And I think I have the mind of Christ”.

Whenever I feel like I have received something from the Lord,
that is the attitude I take… “I think I have the mind of the Lord”.

Paul also said he wished all would prophesy.

“For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." Revelation 19:10 NIV

If you or I testify about Jesus, we are prophesying.

Peter says… “If anyone speaks, let him speak
as the oracles of God.” 1 Peter 4:11NKJV

God is trying to inspire the sons and daughters (everyone of us).

He wants His words to be your words.

Every word you speak comes from
somewhere… the world, yourself, or God.

Every time you speak you prophecy.

Which of the three are you prophesying for?

Let God fill your mind and heart so your mouth
will be filled with the prophetic words of God.

Scripture Reading

Psalm 146:10 NIV
10 The Lord reigns forever,
your God, O Zion, for all generations.
Praise the Lord.

Acts 2:17-21 NIV
17 "'In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in the heaven above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20 The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21 And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.'

Acts 2:38-39 NIV
38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you,
in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.
And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off
— for all whom the Lord our God will call."
