 the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”

Knowing God is more than a history lesson

 

Knowledge that Leads to Eternal Life

In Jesus’ prayer found in John 17,

He makes a statement…

“Now this is eternal life: that they may

know you, the only true God, and

 Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”

Eternal life is achieved by

knowing God and Jesus Christ.

WOW!!! Think about it, how long

does it take to know God?

I have been married to Sandy for over 40 years

and I am still getting to know her.

If eternal life is “knowing God”,

than what do I need to know about Him?

James says the devil believes there is one God

and we know he does not have eternal life.

So if the devil knows the only true God

and was there at the crucifixion of Christ,

to know must go beyond information.

The fact that the devil believes the information

means my historical understanding and belief

of history is not enough to receive eternal life.

This morning as Sandy and I were getting ready

for the day, we were playing with words.

I asked her…

“Who do you think I am?”

She said…

“My husband.”

I said…

“How does it feel to have a life sentence?”

She said…

“I don’t see it that way,

I see it as a commitment.”

Since that commitment we made to

each other March 4, 1972, we have

grown in our knowledge of each other.

We not only know each other

we understanding each other.

And together we have made a home.

Jesus said…"If you make my word your home you

will indeed be my disciples, you will learn the truth,

 and the truth shall set you free." John 8:31 (Jer)

It will take eternity to get to know God.

It is when we commit to making His Word

our home that we begin to understand Him.

 Where is your home?
