What On Earth Is God Doing?
By William M. Self, Sr.
If you are still eating other bread
Other than the Words of God
“And Everyone who Calls
on the
Name of the Lord will be Saved”
You have heard it “Jesus Saves”.
The question is what does that mean?
The thief on the cross who asked Jesus
to remember him gives us all hope.
As Jesus said…
“Today you shall be
with me in paradise”.
After Jesus had feed the multitudes, people
were looking for Him to get more free meals.
“Jesus answered,
"You've come looking for me not
because you saw God in my actions but because
I
fed you, filled your
stomachs — and for free.” John
6:26
Some of us just want to be saved from our current situation.
Once things get better, we move on to something else.
It seems great to be around the beautiful
people and the music at church.
It makes us feel good…
Like a good healthy meal.
But we also find other things that make us
feel good, so we follow them as well…
Like an unhealthy meal.
This is not what
Jesus intended.
Paul writes…
“Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach,
and their glory is in
their shame. Their mind is on earthly
things. But our citizenship is in heaven.”
Philippians 3:19-20
We can help people with charitable acts but if we are
not leading them to follow Jesus with all their heart…
We are doing them a disservice.
Peter on the Day of Pentecost made it clear to
the people who asked… “What
must we do?”
He said Repent… think
differently, reconsider
Be baptized for the
forgiveness of sins…
Make it public, you died to your old way of
thinking and now like
Christ rose from the dead
you come up out of the water with a new life…
A life that thinks and acts like Christ.
When these two things happen,
God fulfills His promise.
“And you will receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit.”
So just don’t call upon the Lord when you have a need.
Call upon Him every day because He is the Bread of Life.
As much as you and I need food, we need
the Bread of Life which is His Word…
Continual communication with Him.

reigns forever,
your God, O
Zion, for all generations.
Praise the
Lord.
Acts 2:17&21

the last days, God says,
I will pour
out my Spirit on all people.

Acts 2:38-41

38 Peter
replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you,
in the name
of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.
And you will receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit.
39 The promise is for you and your children
and for all who
are far off — for all whom the Lord our God
will call."
40 With many
other words he warned them;
and he
pleaded with them,
"Save
yourselves from this corrupt generation."
