Jesus’ Words in Red
The Way
"I
am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now
on, you do know him and have seen him."
The “WAY”
When Jesus said, I am the Way, the
Truth and the Life
He did not say no
man comes to heaven except through Me
He said no man comes
to the Father
Be sure it is the
Father’s heart you are after
Not the streets of
gold He lives on
The Way
There is…
This Way, That Way, Another Way
The Fast Way, The Slower Way
Easy Way, Hard Way
There is…
One Way, Another Way, My Way, In the Way
WAY…
a method, style, or manner of doing something
A road, track, path,
or street for traveling along
With all these ways…
Is it possible there is One Way?
Or,
A Right Way and Wrong Way?
Thomas, one of Jesus’ disciples
had followed Jesus for some time
When Jesus said…
“You know the way to the place where I am going."
Thomas said to Jesus…
"Lord, we don't
know where you are going,
so how can we know the
way?"
You have to know where you are going
in order to select a way to get there.
What is the destination?
At 5 o’clock I was driving home every
ramp on the expressway was filled with cars.
They were all going somewhere.
I though all those people
will end up in different places.
I suspect that most of them were going home.
A way they were very familiar with.
As the expressway traffic slowed down to
almost a stop and the traffic was lined
up in all directions as far as I could see…
I wondered how many
“know
the way to the place where I am going.”
Jesus answered Thomas’ question…
"I am the way and
the truth and the life.”
The Way, The Truth, The Life
Yes, there is a Right Way and a Wrong Way.
Most of us at some time have turned off the
GPS because we get tired of hearing…
“Recalculation”, “Recalculation”
Like my friend from Toledo who was going to New York
but when he got on the Turnpike, he got on the wrong ramp.
After driving all night he saw the sign “Welcome to Wisconsin”.
Jesus says, I am the Way…
Jesus is the only one who has passed through
death on a three day journey and went to
heaven and come back to tell us about it.
Others may have died for minutes and have
told us some amazing things but
none of them can say, “I am the Way”.
Jesus says, “I am the Truth”
There is a Right and Wrong Way.
All ways don’t lead to heaven, in fact, it is not
Heaven Jesus is claiming to be the Way to.
Jesus is claiming to be the Way to the Father.
We should make sure that the desire of gold
streets and pearly gates, and no more suffering
is not the focus of our destination.
The destination is to the Father.
The Way is to the Father’s heart.
It is a desire to be with Him.
In the beginning God said…
“Let US make man in our own image”
Life comes through the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
This is why Jesus says if you know Me you
know the Father, because they are one.
Walt Disney said…
“The way to get
started is to
quit talking and begin
doing.”
We are all traveling on one of the many ways.
But only one Way will get us to the Father.
Let’s quit the talking and begin doing.
Let’s begin going after the Heart of the Father.
The Way Jesus did, full of Truth and Life.
Scripture Reading
John 14:1-7 NIV
14:1 "Do not let your hearts be
troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many
rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a
place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and
take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to
the place where I am going."
5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you
are going, so how can we know the way?"
6 Jesus answered, "I am the way
and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If
you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know
him and have seen him."
