Jesus’ Words in Red Eternal Life

Jesus’ Words in Red

Eternal Life

Now this is eternal life:

What is eternal life?
Eternal: perpetual, unending, everlasting
Life: time
Perpetual, unending time
Jesus defines eternal life as knowing God
Jesus also made two requests
“Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.”
“glorify me in your presence with the glory
I had with you before the world began.”
True life, eternal life is magnifying God the Father and Jesus Christ
What request do you have for your life?
Is it to magnify God, to give Him glory,
Esteem and honor through the life He gives you

Eternal Life

What is eternal life?

Eternal: perpetual, unending, everlasting

Life: time

Perpetual, unending time

You and I are given time, but
that time has an expiration date.

In that time we make choices
on how to use that time.

Time… it was here before you and will
be here after your time has expired.

Time is what you make of it.

You might say your heart
beat is a tick on the clock.

It started in your mother’s womb
before your body was fully developed.

It is counting the moments of your life.

By the way we live, we define what life is.

We give the meaning to the time we have.

Good use or bad use of that time…

 It is our choice.

So if we could extend our time…

If we could have unending time,
eternal life, what would it look like?

Jesus tells us what eternal life is…

Now this is eternal life:
that they may know you, the only true God,
and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

Eternal life is Who you know.

What does it mean to know…

The only true God, and Jesus Christ

Jesus tells us what that was for Him.

Jesus starts His prayer with a request…

"Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son,
that your Son may glorify you.
“The time has come”

Jesus is clearly speaking about the time
when His heart beats the last beat.

His request is “Glory” Esteem, Honor, Magnify.

Jesus’ request is for His life to end in honor
and in turn the Father would be honored.

Jesus’ next request is the eternal request.

And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory
I had with you before the world began.

I think Jesus makes it clear what eternal life is…

It is living out this life giving
glory, esteem, honor to the Father.

Then when this heart beats the last time on earth…

We enter the presence of the Father where we
enjoy the Glory, Esteem, Honor the Father
and the Son had before the world began.

True life, eternal life is magnifying
God the Father and Jesus Christ.

What request do you have for your life?

Is it to magnify God?

To give Him glory, esteem and
honor through the life He gives you.

Scripture Reading

John 17:1-5 NIV

17:1 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
"Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
