Jesus’ Words in Red
Protection in the Name
Holy
Father, protect them by the power of your name
If you have ever had
a life threating experience or you know someone who has
You probably saw a
running to God
As they say, “There
are no Atheist in fox holes”
In Jesus’ concluding
prayer of John 17
Jesus asked the
Father to protect His disciples
Holy
Father, protect them by the power of your name
Jesus says this
prayer of protection was not for the world
But for those who
obey God’s Word
It is Faith in the
Name of Jesus that releases
The protection and provisions
of God
Lift up the Name of
Jesus in Faith
Protection in the
Name
If you have ever had a life threating experience
or you know someone who has…
You probably saw a running to God.
As they say…
“There are no Atheist
in fox holes.”
In Jesus’ concluding prayer of John 17
Jesus asked the Father to protect His disciples…
Holy Father, protect
them by the power of your name
Jesus says this prayer of protection was not
for the world, but for those who obey God’s Word.
…they have obeyed your word. …For I
gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with
certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. I pray for
them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they
are yours.
Jesus also said while He was with
the believers He protected them.
“While I was with them, I protected them and
kept them safe by that name you gave me.”
God the Father gave His Son the Name Jesus.
In Hebrew, Jesus’ Name means Jehovah-Saved.
There was a time that Jesus said to Peter…
"Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat.
But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not
fail.”
Luke
22:31-32
The most important thing Satan would
like to take from us is our “FAITH”…
Faith in The Name of Jesus.
Every believer should know Proverbs 18:10…
“The name of the LORD
is a strong tower;
the righteous run to
it and are safe.”
The righteous are given excess to safety
in “the Name of the Lord”.
Jesus says…
“I tell you the truth, my Father will
give you whatever you ask in my name.”
John 16:23
Our needs of provision and protection
come as we ask in the Name of Jesus.
How powerful is the Name of God?
“Salvation is found in
no one else,
for there is no other
name under heaven
given to men by which
we must be saved."
Acts 4:12
What is the Name the Father gave?
9 Therefore God
exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name
that is above every name,
10 that at the name of
Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth
and under the earth,
11 and every tongue
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God
the Father.
Philippians
2:9-11
When
you read the great commission in
Mark
16 you will see that believers in
the
Name of Jesus will do miracles.
“And these signs will
accompany those who believe: In my
name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18
they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison,
it will not hurt them at all;
they will place their hands
on sick people, and they will get well."
Mark
16:17-18
After Jesus went to be with the Father we see
the miracles the disciples did in the Name of Jesus.
“By faith in the name
of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and
the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him,
as you can all see.”
Acts 3:16
We see a clear example of a healing
in Jesus’ Name in Acts 9:33-34.
“…a paralytic who had
been bedridden for eight years.
34 "Aeneas,"
Peter said to him, "Jesus Christ heals you…”
The Name of Jesus is not a magic word.
It is only faith in His Name that that has power.
“Some Jews who went around driving out evil
spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were
demon-possessed. They would say, "In the name of Jesus, whom Paul
preaches, I command you to come out." 14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish
chief priest, were doing this. 15[One day] the evil spirit answered them,
"Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" 16 Then the
man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave
them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.”
Acts
19:13-16
Look at Paul and the results
he had in the Name of Jesus…
“She kept this up for
many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to
the spirit, "In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of
her!"
At that moment the spirit left her.”
Acts 16:18
Over and over again in Scripture we read…
"In My Name," "In Jesus' Name," or
"In His Name"
The devils were powerless because of His Name (Luke 10:17).
The demons were cast out in His Name (Mark 16:17-18).
Healing occurred in His Name (Acts 3:6, 3:16, 4:10).
Salvation comes in His Name (Acts 4:12, Romans 10:13).
We are to baptize in His Name (Matthew 28:19).
We are justified in His Name (1 Corinthians 6:11).
Everything we do and say is done in His Name (Colossians 3:17).
It is important that we lift up the Name of Jesus.
That everything we do and say
is done in the Name of Jesus.
We must never use the Name of Jesus
in a way that seems corny, or a cliché.
It is faith in the Name of Jesus…
It is faith that gives the Name of
Jesus meaning and power.
God the Father has given
His Son the Name Jesus.
A name of authority above all other Names.
Our protection and provision is in that Name.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL NAME!!!

Scripture Reading
John 17:1-12 NIV
17:1 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and
prayed:
"Father, the time has come.
Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him
authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have
given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true
God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth
by completing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your
presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
6 "I have revealed you to those
whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and
they have obeyed your word. 7 Now they know that everything you have given me
comes from you. 8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them.
They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent
me. 9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have
given me, for they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine.
And glory has come to me through them. 11 I will remain in the world no longer,
but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect
them by the power of your name — the name you gave me — so that they may be one
as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by
that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction
so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
