Jesus’ Words in Red Rooms in the Father’s House

Jesus’ Words in Red

Rooms in the Father’s House

In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you.
I am going there to prepare a place for you.

My brother and his wife have a room at their house they call Bill & Sandy’s room
We know that when we go to Florida in the winter our room is waiting
Family makes room so they can be together
That is what Jesus is preparing
For all who believe and take the right to become Children of God
There is no Motel 6 in heaven
Jesus will not put you up at a local hotel for a few nights
God’s children are family for all eternity

Rooms in the Father’s House

Archeologist David Fiensy describes
how the disciple would have
understood these words of Jesus…

It was common to have large court-
rooms with rooms on all sides,
living rooms and other rooms.

They are called “insula”.

As the family grew, more rooms were added
until the courtyard became filled with rooms.

Jesus says…
 “In my Father's house”

The word house according to
Strong’s NT:3614 oikia (oy-kee'-ah)…

Meant residence, abode, but more than the
place where God dwells, it implies family.

Rooms partition space, not to divide the
family, but shows the different families.

If we follow the context of the Gospel
of John we see starting with Chapter 1,
John takes us back to creation…

In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
 John 1:1

The Word became flesh and
 made his dwelling among us.
John 1:14

John tells us the world and His own
people rejected Jesus, the Word of God.

The dwelling of the Word
of God was not recognized…

He was in the world, and though
the world was made through him,
the world did not recognize him.
He came to that which was his own,
but his own did not receive him.

But those who recognized the
Word of God and received Jesus,
 John says…

Yet to all who received him,
to those who believed in his name,
he gave the right to become children of God—
children born not of natural descent,
nor of human decision or a husband's
will, but born of God.

God gave the right to become Children
of God, God’s family of believers.

John 3:16 says…
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John records Jesus saying in John 10:16…

“I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen.
I must bring them also.
They too will listen to my voice”

Jesus concludes His farewell in prayer, not
only for the disciples, but all who believe.

"My prayer is not for them alone.
I pray also for those who will believe
in me through their message,
that all of them may be one,
Father, just as you are in me
and I am in you.
 John 17:20-21

Jesus is saying in My Father’s house or family,
are many rooms or family members from every
part of the world and throughout every generation.

Jesus is going to make a place for every believer
who takes the right to become a child of God.

The Bible gives us the picture of
Adoption and Marriage as we see in
Ephesians 5 and the Book of Revelation.

Many people dream of owning a
mansion in heaven just over the hill top.

When God created Adam and Eve,
He had plans for one family.

That family has become divided, and not
only has rejected each other, but God.

God has given all who believe,
the right to become Children of God.

The right to become a part of God’s family.

Just because you are part of God’s creation
does not make you a part of His family.

For those who become Children of God,
Jesus makes a place, a room
connected to others as one family.

My brother and his wife have a room at
their house they call Bill & Sandy’s room.

We know that when we go to Florida
in the winter our room is waiting.

Family makes room so they can be together.

That is what Jesus is preparing for all who
take the right to become Children of God.
