Jesus’ Words in Red
Trouble
“In this
world you will have trouble.”
Trouble
“In this world you will have trouble.”
I have always felt this was an understatement
The world cries Peace, Peace as they protest
But we can cry out to the Prince of Peace
Who promises Peace eternal
Don’t let the trouble of this world get you down
Don’t let it change your living of a godly and holy life
Take heart
Jesus overcame the world and its troubles
Trouble
“In this world you will have trouble.”
I have always felt this was an understatement.
If you are a first responder
If you are in the military
If you are in the medical field
You have job security.
No one escapes a life without trouble.
Why?
Because of sin.
In 2017 the news media cannot
keep up with the troubling events.
Wild fires across America have destroyed
property and lives, yet it got very little
coverage because hurricane Harvey’s devastation
on Texas and Irma’s to Florida and the East Coast.
Before assessments of the damage were
made, America was horrified when a man
opened fire on innocent concert
goers in America’s worst shooting.
The division and hatred in
America is tearing us apart.
The NFL and others refuse to stand united
under America’s flag and the National Anthem.
Let’s not forget ISIS and the threat
from Rocket Man in North Korea.
As bad as all this is,
it is not as bad as killing God…
Crucifying Jesus Christ.
Jesus had just shared His final words with the
disciples and told them He would be leaving…
These are troubling words.
It is hard to believe the words Jesus ends with…
"I have told you
these things,
so that in me you may have peace.”
PEACE???
How can there be peace?
Jesus says…
“But take heart! I have overcome the world."
Jesus overcame the world in every sense.
When they nailed Him to the cross…
They could not kill Him.
He laid down His life only to take it up again.
So we might have hope.
Peter writes about the destruction of this world.
Many are coming to believe we are in those days.
Peter tells us what we should do…
Since everything will
be destroyed in this way, what kind of
people ought you to
be? You ought to live holy and godly lives
12 as you look forward
to the day of God and speed its coming.
That day will bring
about the destruction of the heavens by fire,
and the elements will
melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his
promise we are looking
forward to a new heaven and a new earth,
the home of
righteousness.
2 Peter
3:11-13
For the believer, the troubles of this world
do not change the way we live.
We continue to live holy and godly lives.
We do not lose hope because Jesus overcame
the world and will come back again.
He will fulfill the promise of
a new heaven and a new earth.
The Home of Righteousness.
The world cries Peace,
Peace as they protest.
But we can cry out to the Prince of Peace…
Who promises Peace eternal.
Don’t let the trouble of this world get you down.
Don’t let it change your living of a godly and holy life.
Take heart…
Jesus overcame the World and its troubles.
Scripture Reading
John 16:33 NIV

things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble.
