Being Successful Successful at Work

Being Successful
Successful at Work

All work should be viewed as benefiting others and
Whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord
When wisdom and the wisdom of Proverbs is applied to our work
Others are blessed and God sees that
When you give, it will return to you
God has a way of bringing prosperity in good measure through others
When we understand how wisdom applies to our work
Work is never about work it is about others
Never forget the purpose of work
If you work for others you will prosper in more than just material things

Successful at Work
Solomon says in his Book of Ecclesiastes 5:18-20…

It is good to enjoy work in life and its rewards.

This enjoyment is a gift from God and keeps us
from worrying about how short life is.

In Scripture we see God blessing
the work of our hands and cursing it.

I love to work because the feeling of
accomplishment meets my need for purpose.

There are times when my work is frustration.

Like plumbing.

Last night I had to get under the
kitchen sink to work on a water line.

I had to run to the store but could not find the fitting
I wanted which is typical for a plumbing job.

Getting into that small space, trying to turn my body to reach
and twist the fittings gave me a pain in my back that made
sleeping last night and my morning very uncomfortable.

If you are a plumber may God have mercy on you.

So to find God’s blessing on the labor of our hands we need to
realize there are things we should not do and things we should do.

Let’s look at things we should “Not Do” first.
Don’t be lazy, if you are on the clock.

Don’t imitate your boss or the person paying you.

Laziness will destroys a business.
Proverbs 10:26

Every business has to compete, so time and quality matter.
Proverbs 18:9

When it comes to our work what should we “Do”.

Develop your skills.

All work is skill and skill is something you can increase
and when you do your boss and others will notice.
Proverbs 22:29

Be diligent, this brings promotion.
Proverbs 12:24

Work hard on the quality of your work
not the quantity of your words.
Proverbs 14:23

If you are a manager, be a wise one.

Be diligent in your planning, and
not hasty in getting things done.
Proverbs 21:5

Build relationships where you can
get good counsel and utilize it.
Proverbs 15:22

Stay on top of things and what affects
your people who work for you.
Proverbs 27:23-27

Don’t be oppressive, be fair.
Proverbs 28:16

Your employees have rights,
be concerned about them.
Proverbs 29:7

Provide good treatment and
you will gain loyalty and love.
Proverbs 29:21

Along with fair pay a worker needs to see how he
benefits or else He will leave and go somewhere else.
Proverbs 16:26

All work should be viewed as benefiting others
and whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord.

When wisdom and the wisdom of Proverbs
is applied to our work others are
blessed and God sees that.

When you give, it will return to you.

God has a way of bringing prosperity in
good measure through others when we
understand how wisdom applies to our work.

Work is never about work it is about others.

Never forget the purpose of work.

If you work for others you will prosper
in more than just material things.

Scripture Reading

Ecclesiastes 5:18-20 NIV
18 Then I realized that it is good and proper for a man to eat and drink, and to find satisfaction in his toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given him — for this is his lot. 19 Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work — this is a gift of God. 20 He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart.

Proverbs 10:26 NIV
26 As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,
so is a sluggard to those who send him.

Proverbs 18:9 NIV
9 One who is slack in his work
is brother to one who destroys.

Proverbs 22:29 NIV
29 Do you see a man skilled in his work?
He will serve before kings;
he will not serve before obscure men.

Proverbs 12:24 NIV
24 Diligent hands will rule,
but laziness ends in slave labor.

Proverbs 14:23 NIV
23 All hard work brings a profit,
but mere talk leads only to poverty.

Proverbs 21:5 NIV
5 The plans of the diligent lead to profit
as surely as haste leads to poverty.

Proverbs 15:22 NIV
22 Plans fail for lack of counsel,
but with many advisers they succeed.

Proverbs 27:23-27 NIV
23 Be sure you know the condition of your flocks,
give careful attention to your herds;
24 for riches do not endure forever,
and a crown is not secure for all generations.
25 When the hay is removed and new growth appears
and the grass from the hills is gathered in,
26 the lambs will provide you with clothing,
and the goats with the price of a field.
27 You will have plenty of goats' milk
to feed you and your family
and to nourish your servant girls.

 Proverbs 28:16 NIV
16 A tyrannical ruler lacks judgment,
but he who hates ill-gotten gain will enjoy a long life.

Proverbs 29:7 NIV
7 The righteous care about justice for the poor,
but the wicked have no such concern.

Proverbs 29:21 NIV
21 If a man pampers his servant from youth,
he will bring grief in the end.

Proverbs 16:26 NIV
26 The laborer's appetite works for him;
his hunger drives him on.
