Being Successful Wisdom Regarding Work

Being Successful
Wisdom Regarding Work

At the end of your life there are two regrets you do not want to have
I wish I had done more
I wish I had done less
Somewhere between these two regrets is a life of peace and blessing
If whatever we do we do it as unto the Lord
Righteousness
When we do what is right in God’s sight
We become a light to the eyes of this world
And His true riches are seen

Wisdom Regarding Work

God intends for His people
to be seen like a city on a hill.

The people of God (the church) are to
display the manifold wisdom of God.

This applies to our work.

“Having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles,
that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may,
by your good works which they observe,
glorify God in the day of visitation.
1 Peter 2:12 NKJV

Proverbs shares a lot of wisdom
regarding friends, and family.

It also has much to say regarding
our everyday work and business.

For the first 20 some years of
my life I spent in secular work.

For the next 30 years devoting my
energy to the ministry of the Gospel.

When I left full time ministry,
I felt very strongly God saying to me…

“You taught people how to live and work
from inside the walls of the church now
go out and show them how it works.”

These past 10 plus years have been very
exciting and challenging.

I understand the hardships,
 being a light and example.

Yet, those hardships reveal
the strength of our Lord.

Every one of us has burdens
that we are to carry daily.

My burdens are like yours.

The greatest burden is the
proper balance of our priorities.

Work is a priority.

If we are unwilling to work, the
church is not responsible to care for us.
 2 Thessalonians 3:6

It we do not provide for our families
we are worse than an unbeliever.
 1 Timothy 5:8

In the end, wealth will not deliver
you from wrath, but righteousness will.
 Proverbs 11:4

Our priorities has to do with our trust

If we trust in wealth, we will fall, but if
we trust in righteousness we will thrive.
Proverbs 11:28

It is better to have a little with
righteousness than much with injustice.
 Proverbs 16:8

In all our affairs, which includes business affairs, we need to…

Commit to the LORD whatever you do,
and your plans will succeed.
Proverbs 16:3

Joseph is a great example.

He had many hard years, but he committed
his life and work to the Lord and righteousness.
 Genesis 39:2-5

When our labor falls in the priorities of the Lord,
God gives the ability to enjoy it.

There are times we work too hard, too long
for a little more, but we don’t get to enjoy it.
Proverbs 10:22; Ecclesiastes 5:18-6:2

Don’t let the pursuit of wealth get in the
way of the other responsibilities of today.

You don’t know what tomorrow brings.
 Proverbs 23:4-5; 27:1

At the end of your life there are
two regrets you do not want to have…

I wish I had done more.

I wish I had done less.

Somewhere between these two regrets
is a life of peace and blessing.

If whatever we do we do it as unto the Lord…

Righteousness

When we do what is right in God’s sight.

We become a light to the eyes of this world…

And His true riches are seen.
