Wisdom Regarding Riddles
The Right Standard and Attitude
What dial
guides your life?
To solve the
riddles of life do you have a Moral compass
Or, are you
spinning the dial for the things that feel good
What dial is in
your hand?
The compass
that leads to the truth of God’s Word
Or, Twister, an
attitude that desires the dreams and fantasies that
Falsehood and Lies, Riches or Poverty can
provide
Wisdom Regarding
Riddles
The Right Standard
and Attitude
To understand the riddles, parables and sayings
we must have the right standard and the right attitude.
Agur said…
"Every word of God is flawless;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in
him.
Do not add to his words,
or he will rebuke you
and prove you a liar.”
Proverbs 30:5,6
In 1967, Twister was named the game of the year.
It is a game where you place a
large plastic mat on the grown.
This mat has 6 rows of colored dots with 4 colors.
To play, you spin a dial on a board divided in to
4 sections, right foot, left foot, right hand, left hand.
When the dial stops spinning you put your
hand or foot on the same color on the mat.
As two or more people play, they get twisted around
each other until one falls and becomes the loser.
The dial may look like a compass dial but it is made of
plastic.
The compass dial is magnetized and will
point in the direction of magnetic north.
You can spin a compass dial and it will
always end up pointing to magnetic north.
The dial on the Twister board after spinning
will give you diffident directions every time.
And leave you in a twisted mess.
Our lives need a
compass, something that
will keep us pointed
in the right direction.
With Twister you can spin hard or light,
to the right or the left it will not matter the
results will be the same you will be directed
in different directions every time.
You will be twisted and eventually fall.
If you want directions to a physical place
on earth use a compass not a Twister dial.
The same is true about life, you will get twisted up and
fall if you do not have a standard like magnetic north.
Agur reveals his magnetic north, it is God’s Word.
It is where we find the true north for our lives.
Jesus said… “The Truth will set you free”.
Our moral compass must
have a pull to the Word of God.
As well as a standard for life
we must have a proper attitude.
Agur asked for two things…
“Keep falsehood and
lies far from me;
give me neither
poverty nor riches”
We don’t always want the truth.
Falsehood and lies can be desirable.
There are fantasies that make us feel good.
Dreams can change our attitude
and guide us in the wrong direction.
Riches and poverty can change our attitude.
Agur realized he would not be able to…
Understand the Riddles, Sayings, and Parables
of life without the direction of God’s Word.
He also realized
passions can
lead him in the wrong direction.
What dial is in your
hand?
The compass that leads to the truth of God’s Word.
Or, Twister, an attitude that desires
the dreams and fantasies that Falsehood
and Lies, Riches or Poverty can provide.
Scripture Reading
Proverbs 30:5-9 NIV
5 "Every word of God is flawless;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
6 Do not add to his words,
or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.
7 "Two things I ask of you, O LORD;
do not refuse me before I die:
8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.
9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you
and say, 'Who is the LORD?'
Or I may become poor and steal,
and so dishonor the name of my God.
