Being Successful Building with Constructive Speech

Being Successful
Building with Constructive Speech

Our lives are being built by the things we do and the things we say
It is that simple, two things define us
Our actions and speech are powerful to destroy or build up

The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life,
but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
Proverbs 15:4 NIV

Building with Constructive Speech

Our lives are being built by the things
we do and the things we say.

It is that simple, two things define us.

Our actions and speech are powerful
to destroy or build up.

The Book of Proverbs addresses both sides,
destructive and constructive speech.

The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life,
but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
Proverbs 15:4 NIV

What is constructive speech?

Good words

The speech of the righteous is like a fountain of life,
valuable like the best silver and feeds others, even multitudes.
 Proverbs 10:9, 20-21

Pleasant words

Words that taste like honey are sweet to the soul
and healing to the bones, the very structure of a person.
Proverbs 16:24

Comforting words

Addresses anxiety and depression and
cheering up the person under heavy weights.
Proverbs 12:25

These are the things that reveal
the good heart of the speaker…

Timely words

Timing is critical for the right words.

It is fruit with value and last forever like pales of gold.
Proverbs 15:23; 25:11

Well thought out words

The righteous person studies carefully
how to best give an answer.
Proverbs 15:28

These are the words that reveal the wisdom of the speaker…

Controlled words

Faithful lips enjoy good things.

Gentleness and humble words defuse violence.

The wise base their words on knowledge not hear say.

The wise keep themselves out of
trouble by guarding their tongue.
 Proverbs 13:2-3; 15:1-2; 21:23

Wisdom will not try to force their two cents in when
everyone is talking, he will hold his tongue even if
he is disturbed by the negative and hurtful words of others.

The man of “knowledge” uses words with restraint.
The man of “understanding” is even tempered.
Proverbs 10:19; 17:27-28

Constructive Speech will…

Be full of grace, (favor), you want the best for others

Be patient by taking the time to obtain
knowledge and find understanding.

 Be gentle with humility.

This controlled speech will protect
your own life and the lives of others.

Let your conversation be always full of grace,
seasoned with salt,
so that you may know how to answer everyone.
Colossians 4:6 NIV
