Being Successful Wisdom Regarding Speech

Being Successful
Wisdom Regarding Speech

The tongue has set the world on fire, anger,
hate has increased due to the words we speak

The destructive flames are in our homes and in the world at large

The burn is so great, trust is weak
Wisdom is not the cute way we put words together to vent or get our desires

Lying, flattery, gossip and cursing will eventfully destroy the one
who uses them and often times the one subject to their speech

Wisdom Regarding Speech

All of us know how powerful words can be.

We all have been hurt and helped by words.

It may have been only one word or many strung together.

For the believer and the person who wants to
be successful in life, speech is very important.

Ephesians 4:29 and 5:4…

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths,
but only what is helpful for building others up…
Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking,
which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.”

Words can inspire and words can destroy.

Wisdom can be gained from Proverbs
concerning our speech and language.

Let’s start with destructive speech.

I am glad God hates lying lips, a lying tongue,
one who is a false witness.
Proverbs 12:22; 6:17-19

Lying is many times fostered by
hatred in an effort to hide the hate.

Lying tries to disguise one’s true feelings.
Proverbs 10:18; 26:24-28

Lies are short lived, they seem sweet
at first but flee like a vapor.
Proverbs 12:19; 20:17; 21:6

Flattery the insincere compliments, deceptive
praise to win another’s favor and to manipulate.

Flattery is like a net and breeds a false sense of security.
Proverbs 26:28; 29:5

Men are often seduced by the adulteress woman.

It is an evil thing when a woman or man
uses enticing speech to seduce another.
Proverbs 6:24; 7:21

Gossiper, talebearer, slander, whisper.

Some people love to talk about others.
 Proverbs 11:13

One who reveals secrets, not a faithful
friend who covers over an offense.
 Proverbs 17:9

There are those who stir up strife
always adding wood to the fire.
 Proverbs 26:20

If you have issues with someone keep it
between the two of you or else you will
destroy your character and integrity.

Gossiping will eventually
 destroy your reputation.
 Proverbs 11:29; 25:9-10

We need to be careful of the evil in
despise or curse another.
Proverbs 20:20

Under Moses law, cursing a parent was
grounds for capital punishment.
 Exodus 21:17 and Leviticus 20:9

Be careful of bad talk about another’s associate,
even maligning a servant can be dangerous.
 Proverbs 30:10

The tongue has set the world on fire, anger,
hate has increased due to the words we speak.

The destructive flames are in our
homes and in the world at large.

The burn is so great, trust is weak.

Wisdom is not the cute way we put words
together to vent or get our desires.

Lying, flattery, gossip and cursing will
eventfully destroy the one who uses them
and often times the one subject to their speech.
