Being Successful
Shopping for Success
“He holds success in store for the upright”
If you are shopping
for success you won’t find it
in any of the brick
and mortar stores
Or on the internet
among all their items
Proverbs 2:7 tells
us God has a store
On His shelves and
in His showcases He displays “Success”
In His store you
will find
“Insight”
“Understanding” and “Knowledge”
No amount of money
can buy these things
They are purchased
with desire
You have to show how
bad you want the items by “crying out”
Hard times make us
want to go shopping at God’s store
There seems to be a store for everything.
Little retail shops to mega malls.
Thanks to the internet you don’t have
to leave your home to go into a store.
We can shop around the world
with a click on our computer.
If you are shopping for success you won’t find
it in any of these stores among all their items.
Proverbs 2:7 tells us God has a store.
On His shelves and in His showcases He displays “Success”.
In His store you will find
“Insight” “Understanding” and “Knowledge”.
No amount of money can buy these things.
They are purchased with desire.
You have to show how bad you
want the items by “crying out”.
The store is full but you have to search for what
you want like you would search for hidden treasure.
This is not a store where you buy
something for temporary use.
There is nothing for the current fad.
The items in this store are to become a part of you for life.
To make a purchase in the store of success,
you pay with things in your life.
You pay with thoughts and emotions you have deep within you.
It gets very personal, the owner of the store is not
afraid to demand secret and deep things in your soul.
When you enter this store it is frightening.
You know the Owner is
going to make
some strong demands of you.
But the fear of the Lord is the beginning
of wisdom, and every other item in His store.
of wisdom, and every other item in His store.
To come out of His store with success you
will have to have an upright walk.
I have found I have to live in this store.
The Owner has been very patient with me as I
don’t always understand what He wants to sell me.
But the harder part is I find unwillingness
on my part to pay the price to give
up things that are so dear to me.
Amazing changes take
place when I store up in
my heart the commands I have received in His store.
Where are you shopping for success?
There is a true saying…
“Nothing haunts us like the things we don’t buy.”
In all your shopping get Wisdom, Insight,
Understanding, and Knowledge.
Scripture Reading
Proverbs 2
1 My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to
understanding—
3 indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden
treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD gives
wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is
blameless,
8 for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful
ones.
9 Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your
soul.
11 Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.
12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men,
from men whose words are perverse,
13 who have left the straight paths
to walk in dark ways,
14 who delight in doing wrong
and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
15 whose paths are crooked
and who are devious in their ways.
16 Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman,
from the wayward woman with her
seductive words,
17 who has left the partner of her youth
and ignored the covenant she made before
God.[fn]
18 Surely her house leads down to death
and her paths to the spirits of the
dead.
19 None who go to her return
or attain the paths of life.
20 Thus you will walk in the ways of the good
and keep to the paths of the righteous.
21 For the upright will live in the land,
and the blameless will remain in it;
22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land,
and the unfaithful will be torn from it.
