Being Successful The Control of the Brain

Being Successful
The Control of the Brain

Ever hear someone say, “You think you are so smart”

Think about it - God gave you a brain

You now own and operate it

Submit it to God in everything, in all your ways

And when you grow old you will
see how smart that decision has been

You have been given a brain

Submit it to the One who gave it to you

The Control of the Brain

Ever hear someone say…

“You think you are so smart”

Think about it – God gave you a brain

You now own and operate it.

“You are issued one at birth, a model that comes riddled with delusions and biases, prone to logical fallacies, and built to create stories to help explain the difficult and messy business of being a person. It also comes with something else, a powerful overconfidence module that works around the clock to keep you from noticing all those shortcomings.” David McRaney

Everyone ever born was given a brain.

It is capable of logic, reason and rationality but when
you fall short of those ideas you tend not to notice.

That soft tissue between your ears is a hard thing to operate.

What you think in that small brain is what you become.

How your brain picks up on something and how someone else picks
up the same thing many times results in very different conclusions.

For all of us even if we don’t think we
are so smart we all think we are right.

As the Scriptures says…

There is a way that seem right to a person.

But over time we discover how right or wrong that way is.

Proverbs 3:7 gives all of us who have a brain a warning…

“Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD and shun evil.”

It is hard not to be a
“Wise guy”
“A Know it all” or
“Think you are so smart”.

Because your brain functions by how you see things.

Verse 7 relates to verse 5 and 6…

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;”

The illustration is very interesting in verse 8…

“This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.”

Our bodies don’t lie.

The older you get the more you realize the things
you did and ate in life have effected your body.

The person wise in their own eyes doesn’t want
to hear what they should or should not do or eat.

Even if they know the council is right
we think we can get away with it.

Old age brings out regrets of wrong thinking.

The Key to a Successful Life is…

“Do not be wise in your own eyes;…”

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart…”

“In all your ways submit to God”

There is no greater mind than the mind of Christ.

It is that mind we need to put on not
just in church but in “all our ways”.

The sanctifying work of Christ is not just for your soul.

“May God himself, the God of peace,
sanctify you through and through.
May your whole spirit, soul and body
be kept blameless at the coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Thessalonians 5:23

Even our bodies are to be holy and healthy.

You have been given a brain.

Submit it to God in everything, in all your ways.

And when you grow old you will see
how smart that decision has been.

You have been given a brain.

Submit it to the One who gave it to you.
