Being Successful
Success Starts With a
Healthy Fear of the Lord
A Journey Through
Proverbs
No matter how you see yourself
God’s vision for you is to be a ruler
“and has made us to be a
kingdom and
priests to serve his God
and Father”
If we are to reach this measure of success
we must start with a healthy fear of the Lord
and have a desire to be wise
God has given us the Book of Proverbs
to help us on this journey
Throughout the Bible are the treasures for successful living.
Out of all the Books of the Bible
Proverbs stands out addressing the successful life.
This book was written by Solomon;
they are the proverbs of Solomon.
It is key to note Solomon’s upbringing,
his father was King David.
These proverbs of Solomon were written to his son.
Proverbs, deep meaning sayings are meant
to reveal the meaning of human life.
The purpose of the Proverbs was to teach
“Wisdom and Discipline”.
Verse 3 of chapter 1 in the NLT says…
“Their purpose is to
teach people to live disciplined and successful lives,
to help them do what is right, just, and fair.”
to help them do what is right, just, and fair.”
Solomon clearly lays out where the foundation
of true knowledge comes from…
“The fear of the LORD
is the beginning of knowledge”
Solomon is saying…
All knowledge must be
handled and
received with a healthy fear of the Lord.
There are a lot of intellectuals who have no fear of the
Lord.
Solomon’s other Book, Ecclesiastes reveals his quest for
intellectualism and his summation was “what is the point”…
It is meaningless.
It is only when we have a healthy fear of the Lord
that knowledge can make us wise.
King Solomon is writing these parables to
his son that he might become a wise ruler.
No matter how you see yourself,
God’s vision for you
is to be a ruler.
Revelation 1:5-6
“from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness,
the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the
kings of the earth.
To him who
loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,
6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests
to serve his God and Father
—to him be
glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.”
Revelation 5:10, 1
Peter 2:9…
These verses tell us the successful position in life God has
for us.
If we are to reach this measure of success,
we must start with a healthy fear of the Lord
and have a desire to be wise.
God has given us the Book of Proverbs to help us on this
journey.
