Being Successful Garden of Pleasure

Being Successful
Garden of Pleasure

“And the Lord God took the man and put him in
the Garden of Eden to tend and guard and keep it.”
 Genesis 2:15 AMPC

If we want true pleasure

If we want to be successful

It is not about planting your own garden

It is about tending, guarding, and keeping “God’s” Garden of Eden

It is realizing that all we do, we do because it belongs to God, not us

So what garden are you “tending, guarding, and keeping”?

Your or God’s?

Genesis 2:15 AMPC is an amazing verse.

“And the Lord God took the man and put him in
the Garden of Eden to tend and guard and keep it.”

The Lord put man in the Garden of Eden.

The purpose was to tend, guard and keep it.

If we focus on the word garden, we can imagine
beautiful plants and trees, streams and rivers, with
emerald green water, exotic birds and animals.

The Garden is of Eden.

What is Eden?

The word in Hebrew for Eden is “Pleasure”.

The Lord God put man in the “Garden of Pleasure”.

Note that it was not good for man to
be alone in the Garden of Pleasure.

So God created woman.

The man and the woman were to live in pleasure.

But for the garden to remain pleasure
it must be “tended, guarded, and kept”.

I don’t know that there is another
word more desirable than pleasure.

Everything we do, we do to give us some pleasure.

We measure success by the things that give us pleasure.

The thing we need to remember is the
Garden of Eden belonged to God not man.

It is man’s pursuit of pleasure that
leads to man’s goal of being a god.

We may not think of wanting to be a deity, but when
we want to rule our way we are trying to be a god.

Adam and Eve were created to rule,
tend, guard, and keep “God’s Garden”.

The Garden of Pleasure was never Adam and Eve’s.

Eve saw she could become wiser than God.

Adam followed in her disobedience.

The Garden of Pleasure belongs to God.

It has always been God’s intention for
man and woman to live in pleasure.

God’s garden must be tended, guarded
and kept by those submitted to Him.

Throughout history man has never lost his desire for pleasure.

As long as men and women pursue pleasure for their
own ends all the beautiful gardens will someday fall.

Many have been very successful at building a
heaven here on earth for themselves and others.

Some of those successes have turned into nations
producing products that make life better and better.

We can become deceived outside
God’s Garden of Eden “Pleasure”.

We can even think what we built is good and
even thank God for helping us build it.

But the problem is a simple one…

If we want true Pleasure

If we want to be successful it is not
about planting your own garden

It is about tending, guarding, and
keeping “God’s” Garden of Eden.

It is realizing that all we do, we do
because it belongs to God, not us.

So what garden are you “tending, guarding, and keeping”?

Your or God’s?

Scripture Reading

Genesis 2:15-18 AMPC
And the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and guard and keep it.
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden;
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and blessing and calamity you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.
18 Now the Lord God said, It is not good (sufficient, satisfactory) that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper (suitable, adapted, complementary) for him.

Isaiah 51:3
The LORD will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.
