The Planting of the Lord
By William M. Self, Sr.
Fruit trees like to produce too much fruit
The fruit becomes dwarfed and the weight can break the
branch
Remove the things that keep you from
Too Much Fruit
This was an exciting year for one of my plum trees.
In the spring, it had lots of blossoms.
It seemed every blossom produced a plum.
Every limb was producing fruit.
As the fruit reached the size of a large marble,
the limbs began to
sag.
One strong limb even broke.
Some of the plumbs turned purple, but
were not much larger than the seed inside it.
I picked all the plumbs that were turning colors.
This gave opportunity for the
other plumbs to grow
larger.
I am learning many valuable
lessons from my fruit
trees.
This tree was producing fruit
in every area of its life…
But could not support it.
I have many times questioned God as to why
I could not do more
of the dreams in my life.
They were beautiful dreams
that would bring glory to God.
But it seemed God cut off that branch.
Or, He picked the bloom or young fruit.
As human nature goes,
I was focused on what I lost.
I could not see at the time God was making
room for me to
produce larger, healthier fruit.
Life is wonderful, but we must
learn which fruit to
focus on.
We have many areas of life,
like the many limbs
of a tree.
For you and I those limbs represent
family, church, work, etc.
Each year we need to look at which
fruits we will give
our attention to.
This means we may have to
cut back on some
things.
It may mean God will remove
some things from your life…
So you can focus on quality, not quantity.
Let’s produce perfect Fruits of Righteousness.

Philippians
1:9-11 NIV
9 And this
is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of
insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and
blameless until the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness
that comes through Jesus Christ — to the glory and praise of God.
