The Tree of Life

The Planting of the Lord

By William M. Self, Sr.

Do you realize what God uses as bookends to the Bible?

The Tree of Life

That makes me want to be a tree hugger

The Tree of Life

Have you noticed that the bookends
 of the Bible are the “Tree of Life”?

In Genesis 2, God planted the Tree
of Life in the Garden of Eden.

The ending words of the Bible are…

“If anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy,
 God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and
in the holy city, which are described in this book.” Revelation 22:19

God placed a... “cherubim and a flaming sword flashing
back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.” Genesis 3:24

It may be guarded, but the Tree of Life is still available.

The Tree of Life is….

Wisdom

She (wisdom) is a tree of life to those who embrace her;
those who lay hold of her will be blessed. Proverbs 3:18

Righteousness

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life Proverbs 11:30

Hope

Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12

Healing words

The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life,
but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. Proverbs 15:4

Jesus was hung on a tree of life.

He was considered a curse for doing so.

As His life blood flowed from His body, life
was given to anyone who would receive it.

Those who receive of the Tree of Life are overcomers.

“To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the
tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.” Revelation  2:7

They have washed their robes in the life blood of Jesus.

"Blessed are those who wash their robes, that
 they may have the right to the tree of life and may
go through the gates into the city.” Revelation 22:14

Be a true tree hugger embrace the “Tree of Life”.

Scripture Reading

Isaiah 61:3 NIV

a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.

Psalm 92:12-15 NIV

they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
13 planted in the house of the Lord,
they will flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green,
15 proclaiming, "The Lord is upright;
he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him."
