The Secret Place
By William M. Self, Sr.
“Was it a secret room
or a place hidden deep in the heart of man?”
Corrie and Betsie found the secret place of the Most High
Have you?
Psalms 91
The Hiding Place
Over the years, I have heard many well-meaning
Christians claim the promises of Psalms 91.
It has been taken to mean no evil will befall on the
believer.
The problem is… I have never met a believer who
has not been sick or had evil things happen to them.
This is not to say God is not able to protect us
and that His angels
don’t watch over us.
Throughout the Bible, men and women
of strong faith have suffered.
Jesus, Himself, said… “In this world
you will have trouble.”
The question comes… Is
the promise of Psalms 91
of the new heaven and
new earth.
Or, is it just for those who quote it.
Where is this secret
place...the hiding place of protection.
If you have never seen the movie, “The Hiding Place”,
you have missed one
of the greatest films ever made.
It is a story of the TenBoom Family.
They lived in the Netherlands at the time Hitler overtook
them.
The TenBoon Family built a secret hiding
place in their home
to protect the Jews.
In 1944, The TenBoon Family was arrested
and placed in concentration camps.
Sickness, death, horrible evils fell on them.
The trailer for the movie asks a question…
“Was
it a secret room or a place hidden deep in the heart of man?”
You don’t need a hiding place
if there is nothing to hide from.
The holocaust was real, the gas chambers,
the cruel and inhumane treatment was real.
Corrie TenBoom imprisoned in that place of hell, survived it.
Her story is incredible.
She found the secret
place, the hiding
place, the shelter of the Most High.
Her sister, who died in the concentration
camp, showed it to Corrie.
Both of them had peace in the midst of chaos.
They could not leave their horrible environment,
no getaway, no fresh air, just the smell of burning flesh.
But Corrie and Betsie found the secret place of the Most High.
Have you found the secret place
when there was no place to hide.
Scripture Reading
Psalm 91:1-2

91 He who
dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in
the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say
of the Lord, "He is my refuge
and my
fortress,
my God, in
whom I trust."
Proverbs
18:10 NIV
10 The name
of the Lord is a strong tower;
the
righteous run to it and are safe.
