Hiding

The Secret Place

By William M. Self, Sr.

Where are you hiding?

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High

shall remain stable and fixed

under the shadow of the Almighty

Hiding

We learn to hide at a very young age.

I think most of us can remember
 places we used to hide.

I used to hide in the toy box, the make shift
fort in the back yard and holes I would dig…

I had a lot of hiding places.

Places where I felt I could be alone.

Places to escape the things going on all around me.

I watched my grandchildren when they
were babies, put their hands over their
eyes thinking they were now invisible.

I am convinced that over the years, we have
become very good at finding hiding places.

Whether it is a walk in the park or a drive in the car
or just locking the bathroom door.

Maybe it is because we have so many reasons to hide.

Adam & Eve hid because they were ashamed.

David hid because of his enemies.

I hide sometimes because I am tired or overwhelmed.

I am sure you have become very good at hiding.

(That’s probably why I have not seen you in a while.)

The question is… “Is your hiding
 place doing you any good?”

Like hands over the eyes that
is not doing you any good.

Our God has a hiding place for you.

A place where you can go
when you feel ashamed.

A place of protection from your enemies.

A place just to get away from it
all to rest and be refreshed.

This hiding place is not fortified
with steel or concrete.

It is not obscure and hard to find.

It is something many fear and avoid.

It is a shadow.

But the only place you can find this shadow
is where God Almighty stands.

Where are you hiding?

 Scripture Reading

Psalm 91:1-2 AMP

1 HE WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High
shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of
the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].

2 I will say of the Lord,
 He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God;
on Him I lean and rely,
and in Him I [confidently] trust!
