The Secret
Place
By William M. Self, Sr.
Are you living undercover of a secret
Or, undercover in the secret place of the Most High
Who do you trust?
Psalm 91
Living Undercover
All of us live undercover.
Hiding is something we are all very good at.
We can go all the way back to Adam and Eve.
They had a secret… Something to hide.
There is an illustration that has been used over the years…
If
you looked at your life as a house and said to God,
You can go into any room of my life you want
except
what is behind “That door”. Which door do you think
God would want to go through?”“That door”
We may have good excuses, even little white lies,
we may think God will
understand.
The story may even sound good as
long as you leave out
a little detail.
When we have secret places, areas of our
lives we cover up
from God…
We hinder God from being Lord of our lives.
Those are the dark areas, the shadows
where God cannot
protect us.
In Psalms 91, it says…
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High.”
The word “Secret”
means a cover.
God made provision
for Adam and Eve.
The shame and guilt they tried to hide from God,
God covered when they came to Him.
The Psalmist goes on to say…
“I will say of the
Lord,
"He is my refuge
and my fortress”.
Let me give you a definition of Lord…
“He
to whom a person or thing belongs,
in which has the power of deciding”
Does every part of your life “belong to the Lord”?
Does the “power of
deciding” reflect
The secret place of the Most High
cannot cover your secrets.
The Psalmist goes on to say…
“I will say of the Lord,
"He is my refuge
and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will
trust."”
Find refuge in the Lord, trust God.
Let His light expose your secret shadows
“abide under the
shadow of the Almighty”.
Scripture Reading
Psalm 91:1-6
NKJV
91 He who
dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under
the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say
of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in
Him I will trust."
3 Surely He
shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the
perilous pestilence.
4 He shall
cover you with His feathers,
And under
His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth
shall be your shield and buckler.
5 You shall
not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the
arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor of the
pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the
destruction that lays waste at noonday.
