The Money Trap

The Million Dollar Life

By William M. Self, Sr.

“People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap”

 1 Timothy 6:9

The Money Trap

The other day a man came to our garage sale
and wanted to buy a computer costing $20
 and another item at $10.

He only had $23 and wanted both items.

He remembered he had lottery tickets
in his car and asked if we would
sell him the items for a lottery ticket.

As he went to the car, we
laughed at what we just heard.

The man came back and said he just
scratched off 10 lottery tickets
and no winners.

I said to him if he had not bought the
tickets you would have had enough to buy
the items and he sadly agreed I was right.

The trap of getting rich keeps you and I
from what we really want and need…

Whether we put our hope in a lottery ticket
or spend too much time working.

If life was a purse, what
would you want it full of?

The Bible says… there are
purses that don’t wear out.

These purses hold the real treasures and wealth.

The wealth of these purses are
Righteousness, Peace, and Joy.

When the pursuit of money,
keeps you from any one of these
three things, you are in the trap.

There is nothing wrong with being rich
but getting there can ruin you.

There is nothing more valuable than your faith…

Faith in God who promises to supply all your needs
according to His riches in Glory.

There are no Dollars, Euros, Yens or
any other earthy currencies

Even Gold is walked on in heaven.

Yet, God is able to give you all you need.

Live Free…

Not in the trap of getting rich.

What is tempting you?

Scripture Reading

Ephesians 1:18-19 NIV
18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

1Timothy 6:6-10 NIV
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
