Don't Be Arrogant

The Million Dollar Life

By William M. Self, Sr.

Bulls make money

Bears make money

Pigs get slaughtered

Don’t let what you have

Make you an “Arrogant Pig”

Don’t Be Arrogant

Not too long ago I was talking to a builder.

I was talking to him about a project and
shared with him my concern about the budget.

He looked at me with surprise and said,
“I thought you were a multi millionaire.”

I then looked at Him with surprise
and said, “You got to be kidding!”

He said, “No, I am not kidding.”

This man has known me over the last several years,
which have been struggling financial years.

From that conversation, I felt like God
was having a personal talk to me.

I realized I did not have to have a million
dollars to live the life of a millionaire.

I did feel some shame for the years of worry over money…
Because God has taken care of me.

After my time with this builder and God,
I decided to live like a millionaire for the rest of my life.

In 1Timothy 6, God gives a command to millionaires…
First on God’s list is don’t be “Arrogant”.

Don’t have or display a sense of
overbearing self-worth or self-importance.

Don’t let the feelings or assumption of superiority arise toward others.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility
consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only
to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:2-4

The second command to the rich is where to put your “Hope”.

Stewardship has always been a supreme goal in my life.

Yet, I went from within months of being debt free to owing
more on my house, than it was worth plus other new debt.

When I lost hope of financially keeping my house, God kept it for me.

Money can be here today and gone tomorrow,
but God is always with us to be our helper.

I can put my hope in Him because He never changes.

God “provides us with everything for our enjoyment”
and He does not need a dollar to do it.

Here is the other command…
Do good, be generous, and willing to share with others.

These commands to millionaires is something
we all can do and the rewards are incredible.

In fulfilling these commands, we lay up treasure in heaven and
lay a foundation for God to build a wonderful dwelling for us.

Who says you can’t take it with you…  This is taking hold of life.

So I am going to continue living like a millionaire
 despite what my portfolio says.

 Scripture Reading

Ephesians 1:18-19 NIV

18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

1Timothy 6:17-19 NIV
17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
