The Million Dollar Life
By William M. Self
The cry of never enough
Never enough time, money, love
Is a retirement mentality
God has given you more than enough
So you will never retire from building His Kingdom
Never Enough
It seems we find ourselves too often
in the place of “never
enough”.
Never enough time,
money, love.
The never enough
mentality is a retirement mentality.
It is a dissatisfied lifestyle with achievement.
Jesus tells a parable about a man who got enough.
He was a farmer and had a bumper crop.
He built bigger barns so he could store it.
It became his retirement.
He now had time and money and
can eat, drink and be
merry.
Sounds great, he had enough “BUT”…
This made God angry.
God said you have enough, ok, and ended his earthy
life because he had nothing worthwhile to life for.
It is no secret that many people die shortly after
retirement.
God made you and I to be productive,
always multiplying the productivity of life.
Not only for ourselves, but for others.
The Million Dollar Life
is
having your “heart
enlightened”…
To see the riches of God’s glorious inheritance.
These riches are to make you and
I the believers and saints powerful.
The enlightened heart is full of hope.
The enlightened heart sees we don’t need
barns to store
tomorrow’s provisions in…
Because all our treasures are stored in
heaven and we cannot exhaust them.
Jesus reminds us that God takes care
of the flowers and birds every day.
And He will take care of us, as well.
Although God has given us many things, He does not
want us to have the handout or entitlement mentality.
God’s promise to us is, if we seek to build
His kingdom, a world
of righteousness…
God will give us all the things others work so hard in life
for.
next several years, what are you going to do with it.
Will you retire or build His Kingdom?
Scripture Reading
Ephesians
1:18-23 NIV
18 I pray
also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know
the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in
the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power
is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when
he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly
realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every
title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to
come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head
over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who
fills everything in every way.
Luke
12:16-21 NIV
16 And he
told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good
crop. 17 He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my
crops.' 18 "Then he said, 'This
is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I
will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I'll say to myself, "You have
plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be
merry." ' 20 "But God said to
him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who
will get what you have prepared for yourself?' 21 "This is how it will be
with anyone who stores up things for himself
but is not rich toward God."
Luke
12:22-34 NIV
22 Then
Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about
your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 Life
is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: They
do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how
much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a
single hour to his life? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing,
why do you
worry about the rest?
27
"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you,
not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28 If that
is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is
thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!
29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about
it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows
that you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to
you as well.
32 "Do
not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the
kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for
yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be
exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34 For where your
treasure is, there your heart will be also.
