A Way to Get Rich

The Million Dollar Life

By William M. Self, Sr.

Is Church your prayer network?

Or

Your business network?

“A Way to Get Rich”

Many television ministries have been accused of 1Timothy 6:5…

“To them religion is just a way to get rich.”

Although this may be true of some church leaders,
it is also true of some who attend church.

The Church is a great network of people.

In a church of any size, you will find
people with different skills and abilities.

There is also a sacred trust within the church.

Many business people see the church
as a prime resource for financial gain.

Over the years, I have witnessed the putting
together of many church business directories.

Too often, I got reports of those businesses not
conducting their business with godly principles.

On the other hand, I have seen many of those
businesses pull their advertisement because
“Christians” don’t pay and want something for free.

Remember how angry Jesus got with
those doing business at the synagogue.

He said it had become something
other than a house of prayer.

I don’t think Multi level marketing (MLM)
could survive without the church.

I think I have checked out every MLM
there is and they all have some Christian claim.

Years ago, I got excited about one of them.

You did not take money from anyone to get them in and you
were paid from use on your credit card and long distance.

I remember talking to a very good Christian friend about it.

He gave me some very good advice.

He said he had stayed away from MLMs because he
did not want to give people the idea he saw them as a
target, a financial prospect rather than a loved person.

Being that my heart was to care for
and serve others, I took that to heart.

Too often, we use God’s house and His people as our
networking platform and not as a house of prayer and care.

We all need to work and what you do should be
a blessing to others and others to be a blessing to you.

But be careful of misusing the House of Prayer.

Make sure others see you as a person of
prayer first and second as a business person.

If you come to church to do business, you
are probably coming for the wrong reason.

Scripture Reading

Ephesians 1:18-20 NIV
18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength,

1 Timothy 6:5-10 NLT
5 These people always cause trouble.
Their minds are corrupt,
and they don't tell the truth.
To them religion is just a way to get rich.

6 Yet true religion with contentment is great wealth. 7 After all, we didn't bring anything with us when we came into the world, and we certainly cannot carry anything with us when we die. 8 So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. 9 But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is at the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
