Simple Faith Jesus Loves Me This I Know

Simple Faith
Jesus Loves Me This I Know

It is said the three most powerful words ever spoken are
“I Love You”
Every one of us want to be loved
We not only want to hear these words but need these words
Lives at a very young age are formed by the degree these words
“I love you” are spoken and expressed
What if the God who made us could say He loves us
Thanks be to God, He did say these words
"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.
Now remain in my love. John 15:9
Over 100 years ago a song was written that is
Still profound, powerful, and life changing
“Jesus Loves Me This I Know”
Yes, Jesus loves me
And, yes, this is simple faith

Jesus Loves Me This I Know

There was about 20 of us sitting around a living room
each taking turns sharing their favorite song.

Three quarters of the way around the room
a gray haired man lifted his head slowly
from looking at the floor and said…

“Jesus Loves Me This I Know”

I, like everyone else in the room,
looked at him as if he had said the most
profound statement we have ever heard.

That happened 40 years ago and
it still is fresh in my memory.

The song is so simple and yet so profound.

I don’t know what songs our little
children are singing in Sunday school.

But I am so grateful for that song as a
little child and so grateful for it today.

"Jesus Loves Me" is a Christian hymn written
by Anna Bartlett Warner (1827–1915).

The lyrics first appeared as a poem in the context of an 1860 novel called Say and Seal, written by her older sister Susan Warner (1819–1885),
in which the words were spoken as a comforting poem to a dying child.
The tune was added in 1862 by William Batchelder Bradbury (1816–1868).
Along with his tune, Bradbury added his own chorus
"Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me..."
After publication as a song it became one of the most popular Christian hymns
in churches around the world, especially among children. Wikipedia

If you don’t know the song or if
you have heard and sung it a million
times, read it and see what you think.

Jesus loves me—this I know
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong—
They are weak, but He is strong.

Refrain
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me—He who died
Heaven’s gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.

Refrain

Jesus loves me—loves me still,
Though I’m very weak and ill;
From His shining throne on high
Comes to watch me where I lie.

Refrain

Jesus loves me—He will stay
Close beside me all the way,
Then His little child will take
Up to Heaven for His dear sake.

It is said the three most powerful
words ever spoken are…

“I Love You”

Every one of us wants to be loved.

We not only want to hear these
Words, but need these words.

Lives at a very young age are
formed by the degree these words
“I love you” are spoken and expressed.

Because these three words are so
needed by all of us we can change
lives by telling others we love them.

Love brings security into our
lives that are filled with insecurities.

What if the God who made
us could say He loves us.

What if He could look past our failures
and insecurities and say “I love you”.

What kind of hope and confidence
would that do for you and me.

Thanks be to God,
He did say these words.

"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.
 Now remain in my love.
John 15:9

These three simple words “I love you” are
spoken throughout God’s Word in many ways.

These words “Jesus Loves Me This I Know”
are powerful and life changing.

We need to hear these words and we need
to let others know Jesus loves them.

Yes, Jesus loves me.

And, yes, this is simple faith.
