Birth of Christ
Let’s Make Christmas Special This Year
Making Christmas
starts with thanksgiving
Make your thanks
giving to God and others memorable
The three little
words we all need to hear
“I love you” needs to be expressed in ways that will be remembered
If you take the time
to plan Christmas
Planning how to
express your thanksgiving to God and others in memorable ways
You will make
Christmas special
Remember the first
Christmas did not just happen
Throughout the Old
Testament we see God was working on His plan
To make the first
Christmas special
So every Christmas
would be a special Christmas for you
Let’s Make Christmas
Special This Year
The more we do something
the more common it becomes.
Christmas can become like that.
As children the thrill of getting up
in the morning and opening gifts.
Going to celebrate at grandma’s house.
Then as we get older and more responsibility
pressures our lives, the joy gets lost.
Sandy has always tried to
make life special for our family.
She has always taken the time to be
creative and get everyone involved.
She plans Christmas like a big production.
That starts with decorations before Thanksgiving.
I am so blessed to have a wife
who loves her family so deeply.
With both of our parents being divorced,
we have had to have many days of Christmas.
December 25th is a special day,
but we have used other days to
celebrate so one day is not too busy to enjoy.
As we have spread out the joys of
Christmas it does become tiring.
A lot of work and energy.
When I was younger I thought what
made Christmas special was the gifts.
Finding the right gift and being
able to afford it was so stressful.
Although I like to give gifts and receive them,
it was not the gifts that made Christmas special.
Sandy with her love for family
keeps us busy at Christmas.
With an Annual Progressive Dinners where we go to each
one of our kids house for part of a meal, so we get to enjoy
the decorations and hospitality in each one of their homes.
We do a Family Lock In from a Friday night till
after church on Sunday where our children and
grandchildren celebrate a hoist of activities together.
Every several years we rent a large house
or resort with the money we would have
spent on gifts to make lasting memories.
My wife is the queen of Christmas
and I am her servant helper.
With all the special things we
do each year I ask the question…
What makes Christmas
special?
To make Christmas special
you need the right ingredients.
Making Christmas special
starts with thanks giving.
Gratitude
First to God than to others
Christmas is special because God loved
us so much He sent His Son Jesus born
of a virgin to set us free from our sin.
It is the Christmas Story, times of prayer
before every meal, sharing and coming
together that makes our Christmas special.
A fun time to remember and give
thanks to God for His unspeakable gift.
Secondly, thanks giving for family and friends…
Words, hugs, jesters of kindness, gifts focused on
letting others know they mean the world to you.
It is always good to have a camera
taking pictures at Christmas, but the greatest
pictures are the memories in your mind.
Make your thanks giving to
God and others memorable.
The three little words we all need to hear…
“I love you”
Needs to be expressed in ways that will be remembered.
If you take the time to plan Christmas…
Planning how to express your thanksgiving
to God and others in memorable ways
You will make Christmas special.
Remember
the first Christmas did not just happen.
Throughout the Old Testament we see
God was working on His plan to make
the first Christmas special so every Christmas
would be a special Christmas for you.
Scripture Reading
Micah 5:2 NIV
2 "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times."
Isaiah 7:14 NIV
14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign:
The
virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son,
and will call him
Immanuel.
Isaiah 9:6 NIV
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
