The Birth of Christ
Christmas
Jesus was born a king
But Jesus did not come to
take away land rights
He did not come to take
peoples’ possessions
Jesus came to take only one
thing, “our sins”
Jesus came to remove the
wrongs we inflict upon each other
The injustice in the world
Jesus did not come to setup
laws, courts and prisons
Jesus did not come to force
people to do anything
Jesus came to change the
heart
The greatest gift of
Christmas is Jesus
And that gift is what people, called
Christians, love the most
No king, no president has given
more to the ethnic groups
People groups of the world
As a Christian in America
you have a right as a people group
In fact it has been the
Christians who have done more for America
Than any other people group
So keep Christ in Christmas
Christmas
Christmas is an annual festival
commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ,
observed primarily on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among
billions of people around the world. A feast
central to the Christian liturgical
year, Wikipedia
The
popularity of celebrating Jesus’ birth is
something
Christians have done since His birth.
Although
the date did not become unified until
an
early Christmas sermon by Augustine who
tied
the shortest day of the year to Christ’s birth.
The
“Sun of Righteousness” prophesied by Malachi…
"Unto you shall
the sun of righteousness arise,
and healing is in his
wings."
Malachi 4:2
John
describes Jesus as…
“The
light of the world”
John 8:12
Augustine claimed the birth date was on
the day of the year that had the
least amount of light and in His birth
Jesus brought light into the world.
The celebration of Christmas
is the celebration of Jesus’ birth.
The Christian celebration has reached
every part of the world where there are Christians.
This is a religious holiday.
To look at history and see the
celebration of the birth of Jesus is amazing.
The prophetic announcement of Isaiah…
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be
on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty
God,
Everlasting Father, Prince
of Peace.
Of the increase of his
government and peace
there will be no end.
Isaiah 9:6-7
Has
held hope for Jews and Gentiles.
Yet, some like King Herod sought
to kill Jesus as an infant toddler.
Matthew 2
Jesus was born a king.
But Jesus did not come to take away land rights.
He did not come to take peoples’ possessions.
Jesus came to take only one thing… “our sins”
Jesus came to remove the wrongs
we inflict upon each other.
The injustice in the world.
Jesus did not come to setup laws, courts and prisons.
Jesus did not come to
force people to do anything.
Jesus came to change the heart.
Jesus came offering mercy and grace.
Christianity has grown not by
conquering land and possessions…
But by conquering hearts
Willing conversion.
Yet, many fear this Prince of Peace.
Many consider a threat this ethnic group
called Christians, who have in the model
of Jesus laid down their lives, lands and
possessions so others might have hope.
Sadly, there have always been
those who do not understand.
In America there is a voice of
Diversity without Christianity.
It is the voice crying for a
Christmas without Christ.
Jesus took this approach…
For God did not send his Son
into
the world to condemn the
world,
but to save the world
through him.
John 3:17
Jesus
knows the error of our way,
the
wrongs we do,
naturally
bringing condemning results.
Many
want to continue in the dark.
Jesus
did not come to force anyone out of the dark.
But
He did come to be a light that
reveals
how we should love one another.
It
is this very message of hope that
Jesus
came to give that has changed hearts.
The
greatest gift of Christmas is Jesus and that
gift
is what people, called Christians, love the most.
No
king, no president has given more to
the
ethnic groups, people groups of the world.
As
a Christian in America, you
have
a right as a people group.
In
fact, it has been the Christians who have done
more
for America than any other people group.
So
keep Christ in Christmas.
Jesus
is the only true hope.
Scripture Reading
Isaiah
9:6-7 NIV
6
For to us a child is born,
to
us a son is given,
and
the government will be on his shoulders.
And
he will be called
Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting
Father, Prince of Peace.
7
Of the increase of his government and peace
there
will be no end.
He
will reign on David's throne
and
over his kingdom,
establishing
and upholding it
with
justice and righteousness
from
that time on and forever.
The
zeal of the LORD Almighty
will
accomplish this.
John
3:16-21
16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did
not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world
through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not
believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of
God's one and only Son. 19 This is the
verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light
because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and
will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But
whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly
that what he has done has been done through God."
