Jesus’ Words in Red Washing Feet

Jesus’ Words in Red

Washing Feet
"Do you understand what I have done for you?"
“Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.”

Jesus said
"Do you understand what I have done for you?"
It is important that we understand this question
Jesus had much more in mind than cleaning the disciples’ dirty feet
“Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.”
So next time you smell an unpleasant odor
Don’t walk away
Don’t tell your friends
Be compassionate and take off your royal garments and grab a towel
Become a servant to that person and wash their feet

Washing Feet

Jesus said…

"Do you understand what I have done for you?"

It is important that we understand this question.

Jesus had much more in mind
than cleaning the disciples’ dirty feet.

Have you ever taken a walk
and stepped in dog doodoo.

Dog doo on your shoe is a real problem.

Maybe you are going to a wedding, church or
some other place and on the way you step in dog doo.

It is evident if you can’t see it, you smell it.

When you step in it, you own it.

If you are a parent, you can relate
to going to church or some other
event and somebody is not ready.

Anger rises and words are said and the
happy moment is now an argument.

And it smells like dog doo on the shoe.

You and I, who have been washed by the blood
of Jesus, sometimes step in the wrong place.

We can blame the dog, but we
weren’t looking and stepped in it.

It is sin and it is worse than dog doo.

It is hard to get off and not a pleasant job.

How embarrassing.

Imagine Jesus washing
the dog doo off your feet.

Jesus gets down to the level of your
stinky situation to clean your feet.

Jesus is concerned about your feet.

Ladies, this is not a reason to get
a pedicure but the scriptures say…

“How beautiful are the feet of
the one who brings Good News”

Now as wonderful as it is that Jesus would
wash your feet that is not the main point.

Jesus says…

"You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,'
and rightly so, for that is what I am.”

Uh oh!

The “Teacher and Lord”

The “Master”

You and I are not greater than our Master.

The Master wants us to be servants.

The Teacher and Lord…

Wants to teach you and I how to clean
doo doo off the feet of one another.

“Now that you know these things,
you will be blessed if you do them.”

So next time you smell an unpleasant odor…

Don’t walk away.

Don’t tell your friends.

Be compassionate and take off
your royal garments and grab a towel.

Become a servant to that person and wash their feet.

Scripture Reading

John 13:12-17 NIV

12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. "Do you understand what I have done for you?" he asked them. 13 "You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
