Jesus’ Words in Red Good Shepherd

Jesus’ Words in Red

Good Shepherd

I am the Good Shepherd

The Good Shepherd is not a hired hand

The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

The Good Shepherd is bigger than your world

I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also.

The Good Shepherd knows what pleases the Father

The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life
— only to take it up again.

Is the Good Shepherd your Shepherd?

“The Lord is my Shepherd”   Psalm 23

Good Shepherd

I am the Good Shepherd.

The Good Shepherd is not a hired hand.

The Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

I have punched a time clock
and I have worked for myself.

There is a big difference.

Working for myself, I work till the job gets done.

I do whatever it takes to get the job done.

There have been many times I wished I
was on a time clock and I could go home
and leave the problems to the next shift
or for the boss to work out.

Jesus is not a hired hand.

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you
will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 1:6

The commitment of the Good Shepherd is
the strongest commitment that can be made.

He laid down His life for the sheep.

The Good Shepherd is a personal Shepherd.

I know my sheep and my sheep know me.

There is something very special
about being “known” by someone.

My wife knows me and that opens
doors that I don’t have with others.

When you see someone you know, you
general stop to have a conversation with them.

Verses the thousands of people you easily
pass by because you do not know them.

People who know each other
love to spend time together.

They will spend work time and leisure time,
it doesn’t matter because they know each other.

When you know someone you
take personal interest in their life.

You do your best to be an encourager.

When you know someone you
express love towards that person.

 Jesus the Good Shepherd compares
knowing you as He knows the Father.

How great is that?

The Good Shepherd is bigger than your world.

I have other sheep that are not of
this sheep pen. I must bring them also.

To know the Good Shepherd is to
be a part of a network throughout
history and beyond our borders.

We are encouraged by those
who have gone before us.

We can travel the world and meet
others who have the same Good Shepherd.

The Good Shepherd knows what pleases the Father.

The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life
 — only to take it up again.

Being willing to die is only one part of the equation.

Our God is the God of life…Abundant life

He is the Creator of life.

So God the Father sees death is
only good when it produces life.

I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to
the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed.
But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
The man who loves his life will lose it,
while the man who hates his life in
this world will keep it for eternal life.
John 12:23-26 NIV

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
Psalm 116:15 NIV

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith,
who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame,
and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2-3 NIV

Jesus did not come just to die or lay down
His life but also to pick it back up again.

You and I will find many things
we need to lay our lives down for.

When death comes whether by choice
or not it is for a better purpose.

The Good Shepherd died to everything
that did not please the Father.

Therefore, He enjoyed the fullness
of life the Father had for Him.

The Good Shepherd is not a hired hand.

The Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

The Good Shepherd is bigger than your world.

I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen.
I must bring them also.

The Good Shepherd knows
what pleases the Father.

The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life
 — only to take it up again.

Is the Good Shepherd your Shepherd?

Scripture Reading

John 10:11-18 NIV

11 "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.

14 "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father — and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. 17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life — only to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father."
