Jesus’ Words in Red God be Displayed in our Life

Jesus’ Words in Red
God be Displayed in our Life

"Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "
but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.”

Do you want to see God display Himself in your life?

Are you willing to let Him decide “How” He will do it?

If you are like me, you don’t want spit and mud on your eyes

But if you and I are willing to let God display Himself
in our lives no matter how unusual it might be

We will see His Glory

Note:  Jesus did not just say…

"But this happened so that the work of God might be displayed
Jesus said “in his life.”

Jesus not only wants to show His glory but He wants you to experience it

God be Displayed in our Life

The question came up from Jesus’
disciples what caused a man’s blindness.

It seems the disciples thought
to be blind was a result of sin.

Because the man was blind from birth
the disciples questioned was it the
sin of the parents or the blind man.

Although it is true sin has consequences in this
life and the life to come there is a third question.

The disciples thought the
problem was due to others or himself.

But Jesus says in this case…

"Neither this man nor his parents sinned."

Many of us go through life thinking
when something does not go our way it
is a result of our sin or we blame others.

We lose our job or we get a report of
cancer and the first question is “Why God?”

The question “Why God?” comes usually because
we feel we don’t deserve what has happened.

Self-examination is a good thing.

 But the more important question
is not “Why?” but “How?”.

We know that the rain falls
on the just and the unjust.

Ask Job.

Evil fell on him and he
was perfect and upright.

I think the answer Jesus gives in the case
of the man born blind from birth gives
us the answer to every “Why?” question.

"But this happened so that the work of
God might be displayed in his life.”

Why?  Because God wants to display
Himself in you, in your life.

Whether our problem is a result of the sin of others,
our self or just that we live in a fallen imperfect world,
God wants to use that to display Himself in our life.

If God wants to display Himself in our
life the real question should be “How?”…

“How do you want to
display Yourself in my life?”

“What do you want to reveal
about Yourself in this trial of mine?”

You see God wants all things to
work together for your good.

Romans 8:28-33 NIV
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all — how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

Most of the time our “Why?” questions
are a display of doubt, a lack of faith.

When we ask God “How”?

“How do You want to display Yourself in my life?”

You are revealing your faith that God will
work this trial in your life out for the good.

When I was young in my faith I thought God’s
love would protect me from any trial or harm.

I quickly found out believer or not
“in this world you will have trouble”.

As I grew in my faith, I realized God did
not save me to keep me out of trouble but
He saved me to learn how to deal with trouble.

You and I were born again to be problem solvers.

And you cannot be a problem solver asking
“Why?”, you have to be seeking God to “How?”.

So how would you have
healed the blind man from birth?

Would you be hindered in helping him because
you were worried about “Why?” he was born blind?

The “How?” Jesus healed
this blind man is very unique.

Jesus did not heal him with a word
like other times He healed the sick.

Jesus spit on the ground to make
mud that He put on the man’s eyes.

Do you want to see God
display Himself in your life?

Are you willing to let Him
decide “How?” He will do it?

If you are like me, you don’t
want spit and mud on your eyes.

But if you and I are willing to let God display
Himself in our lives no matter how unusual it might be…

We will see His Glory.

Note:  Jesus did not just say…

"But this happened so that the work of God might be displayed,
Jesus said, “in his life.”

Jesus not only wants to show His
glory but He wants you to experience it.

Scripture Reading

John 9:1-5 NIV

9:1 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"

3 "Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life. 4 As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. 5 While I am in the wor, I am the light of the world."
