Reboot Your Life
Super Bible Hero Elijah
Needed to reboot with
Sleep, Nutrition, & Exercise
Before he could hear God
“Physical life comes
first, then spiritual”
1 Corinthians
15:46
I have only met one person in my life who
said they never
experienced depression.
Whether you are drained because you are depressed
or depressed because you are drained…
Depression is something we all face
and Elijah is a good example of this.
Can you imagine Elijah’s boldness and confidence?
Standing up to give a toast at a
wedding would stress many of us out.
Elijah stood before King Ahab and the
prophets of Baal and challenged them.
But this man of steel melted with fear.
God’s remedy for Elijah’s depression
started with rest, hot food and water.
Nutrition was the first step and the next was exercise.
“Strengthened by that
food, he traveled forty days and forty nights” 1 Kings 19:8
A glass of cold water will stimulate
your blood and help you get moving.
Ever notice people who are not depressed, excited people?
They talk fast and loud.
Just exercising your mouth can help
you get out of depression.
Sing a song or talk about something good and enjoyable.
I have many times sung the song…
“Lord do it again make
a way out of no way; Lord I know you can
Manifest your presence;
Manifest your love
You’ve done it before;
Please do it again”
It is a catchy tune with an upbeat.
It is a song I can’t sing without moving my hands and feet.
Spiritually drained Elijah needed three basic
things before he could hear God again.
Sleep - This was easy for Elijah
Nutrition – The Angel woke him up
to eat hot food and drink water
Exercise – Strengthen by the food and water he
traveled stimulating the blood and taking in fresh air
Even super Bible heroes need to reboot.
They need these three basic things to get refreshed.
Scripture Reading
1 Kings 19:1-9 NLT
1 Elijah Flees to Sinai
When Ahab got home, he told Jezebel what Elijah had done and
that he had slaughtered the prophets of Baal. 2 So Jezebel sent this message to
Elijah: "May the gods also kill me if by this time tomorrow I have failed
to take your life like those whom you killed."
3 Elijah was afraid and fled for his life. He went to
Beersheba, a town in Judah, and he left his servant there. 4 Then he went on
alone into the desert, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom
tree and prayed that he might die. "I have had enough, LORD," he
said. "Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors."
5 Then he lay down and slept under the broom tree. But as he
was sleeping, an angel touched him and told him, "Get up and eat!" 6
He looked around and saw some bread baked on hot stones and a jar of water! So
he ate and drank and lay down again.
7 Then the angel of the LORD came again and touched him and
said, "Get up and eat some more, for there is a long journey ahead of
you."
8 So he got up and ate and drank, and the food gave him
enough strength to travel forty days and forty nights to Mount Sinai, the
mountain of God. 9 There he came to a cave, where he spent the night.
1 Corinthians 15:46 NIV
46 The spiritual did not come first, but the
natural, and after that the spiritual.
