Family The Family Cycle Marriage

Family
The Family Cycle
Marriage

God is LOVE the adhesive bond that joins
and holds the marriage together

When a couple seek Christ for the answer in
everything they face they will grow closer together

Marriage is the beginning of a new family.

Marriage was instituted by God in the beginning.

We should note that throughout the world
civil authorities have instituted marriage.

The definition of marriage by civil authorities has
differed from what God has instituted in the beginning.

God said a “Man” shall leave his father and
mother and be united with his “Wife”.

The married are to reproduce and this can only
be done between a male and female.

Thus the earth is filled with generations of family.

God gives the freedom to choose your marriage partner.

Your husband or wife is your choice.

As it says in 1 Corinthians 7:29,
“Free to marry anyone…. But must be in the Lord”

This does not mean God does not have provisions
for those who are married to someone outside the Lord.

But if you are looking to get married and start
a family, look for a spouse that is in the Lord.

March 4th, 1972, I chose one woman out of
all the women in the world to be my wife.

Cassandra Lynn DeBrosse became mine
and I became hers until one of us goes to
meet the Lord or He returns in His glory.

I found her as I was pursuing the Lord and
she found me as she was pursuing the Lord.

The closer we get to the Lord, the closer we get to each other.

This is the secret…

God is the adhesive bond that joins a
man and a woman together in marriage.

The Bible tells us God Is Love.

He is Agape and Phileo these are
the two Greek words for Love.

Agape is a love “without reason”.

The best example I can think of is Romans 5:8.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” NIV

We did not give Christ a reason to love us,
we were in sin rejection of Him.

Phileo is a love “with reason”.

This type of love grows through kindness and gratitude.

When someone is kind to you and you want to show
your gratefulness in return to them this is Phileo love.

This is how friendships are developed.

You see we love Christ because He first loved us.

These two types of love are what holds
the family together through every cycle.

So drawing closer to God will cement the
marriage and the family together in love.

There are 6 cycles for a family to navigate

“Cycles of family life”

The marriage
Bearing children
Raising children
The empty nest / launching new family
The declining years
Death in the marriage

Family cycles should be a great
experience for the whole family.

Scripture Reading NIV

Matthew 19:6
6 So they are no longer two, but one.
Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

1 Corinthians 7:39
A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives.
But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes,
but he must belong to the Lord.

Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
