Family Traits of the Family of God

Traits of the Family of God

Family traits, every family has them.

There are the traits you are born with.

The ones that cause you to look like your parents.

The jesters you make without really noticing.

The learned behaviors both taught and caught.

We know that physical traits can
be both healthy and unhealthy.

And so it is with the traits that
shape the mind and the heart.

Every earthy family has its unhealthy traits.

These traits if properly dealt with can
help future generations to become
more healthy than the ones before.

There is always hope and always something we
can do to improve the family we are a part of.

Thanks to Jesus Christ we all have
the opportunity to be born again.

Being born again brings us into a family
with a perfect Father and a perfect Brother.

The healthy model of family is clearly seen in Jesus.

He reverenced His Father,
 “Hallowed be thy Name”.

Jesus kept in communication with the Father
every morning He rose up to be with Him in Prayer.

Jesus had His Father’s agenda on His mind,
“I must be about My Father’s business”.

Jesus intently watched to see
what His Father was doing,
“I only do what I see my Father doing”.

From the life of Christ,
we can see the Father.

The greatest trait of the family of God is Love.

God the Father is Love.

Jesus demonstrated the Father’s love for the world,
For God so loved the world that
He gave His one and only Son”.

God demonstrated His love for us in this,
“While we were still sinners He died for us”.

Every good and perfect gift comes
out from this vessel of love.

The Father is Love and from Him comes…

peace, joy, gentleness, goodness, patience,
faithfulness, self-control, grace, mercy, etc.

No wonder John says to the children
of God love one another.

It is this attribute of love the Father
requires of all His children.

How strong are the Father’s traits in you?

Scripture Reading

“This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.” 1 John 3:10 NIV
