6 Cycles of Family
The Ancient Paths
As you get older what path are you taking?
The other day I was talking to a friend.
We were talking about the rest of our lives.
We both are grateful to the Lord for the direction
He has given us throughout our years.
We both have enjoyed the path of life.
We are now both in our 60’s taking a serious look at
what the path of the rest of our lives should look like.
Many of us get into routines.
Good, balanced routines bring wonderful benefits.
Routines help us get comfortable.
For my friend and I we are looking at what should the path
of the rest of our lives look like and how do we get there?
I believe taking inventory of life and
planning life should be done regularly.
Without it our live path may become a rut.
A path can be a route or track from place to
place or a way beaten, forged, or trodden by our feet.
So what should the “Golden” years or Retirement look like?
If you are a follower of Christ your
first concern is God’s will for your life.
“The steps of a good
man are ordered by
the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” Psalm 37:23
But I have discovered God can use me anywhere,
in my home town or any place on the face of the earth.
The Bible doesn’t seem to focus on the physical destination
of
our path but is does talk about not leaving the old or
ancient paths.
“This is what the Lord
says:
"Stand at the
crossroads and look;
ask for the ancient
paths,
ask where the good way
is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest
for your souls. Jeremiah 6:16
There are paths in our lives we should never stray from.
It is a good thing to make plans for your life.
Maybe it is plans to escape the winters or travel to be with
family and friends or see the wonders of God’s creation.
Where ever you go,
whatever you do, God has a plan for you.
Let us “delight in His way.”
From birth to old age God takes care of those who
have chosen the ancient paths of righteousness.
The path of life that leads to everlasting life.
“Though he fall, he
shall not be utterly cast down:
for the Lord upholdeth
him with his hand.
I have been young, and
now am old; yet have I not seen
the righteous
forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”
So chose the path of retirement but don’t let it stop you
from
living life to the fullest on the ancient paths of
righteousness and life.
There are 6 cycles for a family to navigate
“Cycles of family life”
