The Blessing of Biblical Literacy Is Truth and Life

The Curse of Biblical Illiteracy is Culture Relevance

“There is a way that seems right to a man,
but in the end it leads to death.”
Proverbs 14:12 NIV

“Blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it,
because the time is near.”
Revelation 1:1-3

The last book of the Bible starts out by saying…

“The revelation of Jesus Christ…
the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.”
Revelation 1:1-3

The first curse came in the first book of the Bible when the serpent said…

“Did God really say” Genesis 3:1

We live in a day where culture relativism
is greater than American’s constitution.

Supreme Court justice John Roberts opposed the Supreme
Court’s ruling legalizing same sex marriage in all 50 states.

At the end of his 29 page document he says…

"If you are among the many Americans
– of whatever sexual orientation –
who favor expanding same-sex marriage,
by all means celebrate today's decision.
Celebrate the achievement of a desired goal.
Celebrate the opportunity for a new
expression of commitment to a partner.
Celebrate the availability of new benefits.
But do not celebrate the Constitution.
It had nothing to do with it."

Cultural relativism is always changing.

It is based on the beliefs or desires of
some and those who are deceive.

Generally in an election, the
deceived determine the outcome.

The deceived are those who don’t
know the facts or who don’t care.

Many people who call themselves Christians
fall into the category of deceive.

They don’t know God’s Word.

They only care about the things
that personally affect their lives.

Biblical literacy is more than
being able to quote scripture.

It is the understanding that God is the Author of Life.

In fact Jesus said…
I came that you might have life in abundance.

Therefore, God’s words are instruction and
guidance to having the fullest life imaginable.

The world is full of opinions and you
and I are pulled by them every day.

 Popular opinions are always changing.

Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:31-32 NIV

Jesus makes it clear the real disciples or Christians
are the ones who know and hold to His teaching.

Today, many who call themselves Christians are lost
in culture relativism; they don’t hold to the teachings
of Christ because they do not know God’s Word.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

His Word is always relevant;
It does not need to change as society changes.

If you want to be blessed, know God’s Word.

Remember the closing words of the
last verses in the Bible that warn us…

Not to add or take away from the words in the Book.

Fight Biblical illiteracy.

Know God’s Word and share it with others.

Scripture Reading

Revelation 1:1-3 NIV

1:1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2 who testifies to everything he saw — that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
