Being Right The Painful Blessing

Being Right
The Painful Blessing

Righteousness…the act of being right.

Being right can cause pain.

Jill Viggiano spent 19 years working in commercial
real estate before retiring to become a full time mom.

Jill lived a very active life in the community.

On her husband’s 51 birthday,
 he suffered a massive stroke.

She was faced with the terrible reality of caring
for her disabled husband, raising their two
children, and seemingly inevitable financial ruin.

Jill chose to surrender her personal freedoms
to become her husband’s care giver.

Doing the right thing can become
very costly to your personal freedoms.

Being right can cost you time in moments
or years that you can never get back.

Being right can take away years of hard earned wages.

Being right can cost you friends because they
are not willing to share with your sufferings.

Yes, being right means sacrifice.

Something has to change.

There are times when the right thing
brings instant joy and benefits.

But other times the benefits are
not fully seen in your life time.

No wonder being right can
become a hard agonizing decision.

Being wrong, living a lie, and turning a
blind eye can be the easier thing to do.

It seems incredible that anyone
would harm you for doing good.

But there are those who will make life
hard on you for doing the right thing.

God says… “you are blessed” if you suffer
for doing the right thing ,the good thing.

We are told to do the right, or
good thing, we must not be afraid.

We cannot allow the consequences
of the right thing to frighten us.

Doing the right thing takes a
heart given totally over to Christ.

To do the right thing you have to
be able to explain the right thing.

You have to know why you are doing the right thing.

You need to be able to share with others
the hope you have in doing the right thing.

Doing the right thing you will realize some
people will not understand, so you will
need to show gentleness and be respectful.

Allow God to convict those who
speak maliciously against you.

Keep your conscience clear.

Remember Jesus came to do the right
thing and it cost Him everything.

Don’t forget the pain of doing right
can never out weight the blessing.

“But even if you should suffer for
what is right, you are blessed”

Scripture Reading

1 Peter 3:13-19 NIV

13 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? 14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed . "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened."   15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.   17 It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. 18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
