Hands of Blessing

The Blessing

By William M. Self, Sr.

 Both Moses and Jesus agree

This is the first commandment to cause your life to be blessed

When you obey this commandment

Everything you put your heart, soul and strength into will prosper

Psalms 1:3 is my dream verse…

“Whatever he does prospers.”

I don’t want to do anything
that is not profitable.

I don’t want to waste time or life.

Image having hands that
whatever you touch prospers.

Having the Midas Touch and
everything you touch turns to gold.

I am a perfectionist and when I work
on a project I want it to be the very best.

Psalms 1 and the Book of Deuteronomy
tells us how to have the golden touch.

Psalms 1 tells us to meditate on the
Lord and His Word day and night.

Deuteronomy 28:8 says…

“The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and
on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your
God will bless you in the land he is giving you.”

 Now that is cool!

According to Deuteronomy 28,
life is a matter of choices.

One choice brings blessing and the other brings cursing.

If I want everything around me to be blessed or
prosper, I must make the right decisions in life.

Before we read the list of blessings, God says this to us…

“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow
all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God
will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All
these blessings will come upon you and accompany
you if you obey the Lord your God:” Deuteronomy 28:1-2

Obedience to the Lord is the key.

When Jesus was asked what was the greatest
commandment He quotes Deuteronomy 6 4-5...

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your strength.”

If you and I want to see everything
we touch be blessed or prosper...

We should remember the most important commandment.

Love the Lord with all your heart mind and strength.

Then put all your heart and mind
and strength into what you do.

Scripture Reading

Deuteronomy 28:1-8 NIV
If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully
follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord
your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.
2 All these blessings will come upon you and
accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:

3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.
4 The fruit of your womb will be blessed,
and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock
 — the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.
5 Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed.
6 You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.

7 The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise
up against you will be defeated before you.
They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.

8 The Lord will send a blessing on your barns
and on everything you put your hand to.
The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.

Psalm 1:1-3 NIV
1 Blessed is the man who does not
walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.
