The Blessing
By William M. Self, Sr.
You cannot make
enough money in your life to leave an inheritance
That will compare to just living a righteous life and being
generous
The righteous always leave a blessing that far out weighs
their net assets
A very wise pastor friend of mine in his 30’s once
said he would not write a book until he was in his 50’s.
It takes decades to prove real quality
and know it when you
see it.
An old gray beard looks back
on the families he
has known.
He writes about the righteous father.
The man who lives a life of doing what is right.
He says out of all his years he has
never seen this type of man forsaken.
Never seen him fail or left alone.
When the hard times came, his
children never had to beg for food.
In fact, they were always generous.
And the righteous and generous
man’s children are blessed.
Now that I am older I, too, have seen greater
opportunities are given to the children of a man
who works hard and
does what is right and is generous.
Doors open for those children much easier.
Trust, honor, respect are not only given to
him but people see his household this way.
The righteous man’s children find it much easier
to be accepted even
before they prove themselves.
Because of the respect of the father even the
children’s mistakes are handled with more grace.
This is also true of the righteous mother.
Not everyone is born with a righteous father or mother.
But everyone has the opportunity
to become one and break the cycle.
The righteous do not look for a
handout or what they can take or get.
They look for the opportunity to give
what they have, even
if it is not much.
In return, they receive blessing and
those blessings become opportunities.
And the opportunities become their provision.
“Give,
and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down,
shaken together and running over,
will be poured into your lap.
For with the measure you use, it will
be measured to you." Luke 6:38 NIV
You cannot make
enough money
in your life to leave
an inheritance…
That will compare to just living a
righteous life and being generous.
Scripture Reading
Psalm
37:25-26 NIV
25 I was
young and now I am old,
yet I have
never seen the righteous forsaken
or their
children begging bread.
26 They are
always generous and lend freely;
their
children will be blessed.
