Blessing of The Teacher

The Blessing

By William M. Self, Sr.

“Blessed is the man you discipline, O Lord,
the man you teach from your law;”

Psalm 94

I am trying to think of something greater than knowledge.

Image living life knowing nothing.

I hated school growing up.

I thought I was a dummy.

Teachers scared me because they
always showed me what I did not know.

It was hard for me to see and
appreciate the teacher’s pressure on me...

Their drawing of my mind to focus
on things I did not think important.

It might have been in one of
John Wayne’s movies this quote…

“Kid, life’s hard. But it’s harder if you are stupid”

Someone else said they thought life would
be easier if you were stupid. “Because you
know what they say, ignorance is bliss”

I have grown to love learning.

The beauty of getting older is…All the knowledge
you collected over the years; the problem
is remembering where you put it.

You are what you know.

Your knowledge affects everything you do.

We all have had many teachers in your lives…

Some good and some bad.

Consciously and subconsciously we choose
 what knowledge is important to us.

Knowledge comes to us when we are
 willing and unwilling to receive it.

For many of us we got our PHD
in the school of hard knocks.

Where did your knowledge come from?

Who was your teacher?

The Psalmist says…

“Blessed is the man you discipline, O Lord,
the man you teach from your law;”

God does not lack knowledge He
created everything and with a purpose.

He knows our futile and stupid thoughts.

He desires to teach us and make us wise…

So we can live a blessed life.

Don’t be stupid let God teach you.

Scripture Reading

Psalm 94:8-15 NIV

8 Take heed, you senseless ones among the people;
you fools, when will you become wise?
9 Does he who implanted the ear not hear?
Does he who formed the eye not see?
10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish?
Does he who teaches man lack knowledge?
11 The Lord knows the thoughts of man;
he knows that they are futile.

12 Blessed is the man you discipline, O Lord,
the man you teach from your law;
13 you grant him relief from days of trouble,
till a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the Lord will not reject his people;
he will never forsake his inheritance.
15 Judgment will again be founded on righteousness,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.
