Blessing is a Choice

The Blessing

By William M. Self, Sr.

Every day we make many choices

We base those choices on our emotions and thoughts

The person who fills their heart with the Love of God

And their mind with the knowledge of God’s Word

Will be much quicker to make the choices that bring blessing

Blessing is a Choice

The rest of your life is ahead of you.

Tomorrow is coming.

What will your future be like?

God told His people…

“The Lord your God will bless you in
the land you are entering to possess.”

What land are you entering and what will you possess?

You and I will live somewhere.

Our future is coming.

How do we get God’s blessing
in the land we are about to possess?

Your future and mine depends on our choices.

It is the everyday choices that determine where we
will live and the blessings we will have in that place.

God gives it to us this way…

“See, I set before you today life and
prosperity, death and destruction.”

Every day, in fact every second, we have choices to make.

Every choice starts in the heart and mind.

Many decisions need to be made quickly.

When we receive a negative comment, think about
how the love of God affects our choices to respond.

We all want the best, but at times,
we hesitate because we are unsure.

This is why it is so important for
us to have God’s Word in us.

Being able to draw from His Word
 in every situation brings blessing.

When the need arises, you don’t
want to take time to pray and fast.

You want an answer now.

Amazingly, every situation you and I face in
life, God has already addressed it in His Word.

Let the Holy Spirit teach you and bring
you into all truth (the promise land)…

So that when you need it, the Holy Spirit can
bring God’s Word back to your remembrance.

The instructions God gave back in
Moses’ time still hold true today.

The blessing is a choice, so get prepared for it…
Love God and keep His Word.

Scripture Reading

Deuteronomy 30:15-16 NIV
See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction.
16 For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in his ways,
and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase,
and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

Psalm 65:11 NIV
You crown the year with your bounty,
and your carts overflow with abundance.

Psalm 65:1-4 NIV
65 Praise awaits you, O God, in Zion;
to you our vows will be fulfilled.
2 O you who hear prayer,
to you all men will come.
3 When we were overwhelmed by sins,
you forgave our transgressions.
4 Blessed are those you choose

John 14:26 NIV
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you all things and will remind
you of everything I have said to you.

1 John 2:27 NIV
As for you, the anointing you received from him remains
in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you.
But as his anointing teaches you about all things
and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit
 — just as it has taught you, remain in him.
