The Lord Sustains the Fatherless and the Widow

What on Earth is God Doing?

By William M. Self, Sr.

The Heavenly Father always sends provision and protection

To the fatherless and widows

DID YOU GO?

The Lord Sustains the Fatherless and the Widow

When a child loses his or her father or a wife loses
her husband…The hearts of people are moved.

Our Heavenly Father has put it
in your hearts to care for them.

Our Heavenly Father made men to be
protectors and providers like Himself.

Mother’s Day is a big holiday and I strongly
believe motherhood should be highly esteemed.

But I find it interesting the word
motherless or widower is not in the Bible.

But fatherless and widows are mentioned over 70 times.

The absents of a man gets strong attention in God’s Word.

Our Heavenly Father tells us He will
sustain the fatherless and widows.

He also tells us to make sure they are
provided for and not taken advantage of.

I don’t think we can imagine how large of a
loss God views the loss of fathers or husbands.

Their absence leaves children and women venerable.

I am very grateful my dad is still with us and it will be very
painful for me when he goes home to be with the Lord.

His councils and support has been more
valuable than gold, even as an adult.

Children without the security of a father
many times look for it in the wrong places.

As boys grow up without fathers, they don’t have the
understanding of how to become a father or husband.

As men, our Heavenly Father has given us
the purpose of providing and protecting.

No child or woman should have
to go looking for security.

Men should have the same eyes
as our Heavenly Father.

Many children find their fathers are
gone, maybe not dead, but gone.

These children desperately need security.

Many women find their husbands gone…

They desperately need security.

Men let us get with our Heavenly Father’s program.

Let us be a father to the fatherless.

And let us see that the younger widows have what they
need to raise their children and find good husbands.

And the elderly widows to be secure
so they can live purposeful lives.

Scripture Reading

Psalm 146:5-9 NIV

5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God,
6 the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them —
the Lord, who remains faithful forever.
7 He upholds the cause of the oppressed
and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free,
8 the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
the Lord loves the righteous.
9 The Lord watches over the alien
and sustains the fatherless and the widow
