What on Earth is God Doing?
By William M. Self, Sr.
Are you presuming?
Or
Do you know from God’s Word
What on earth is God Doing?
Presumption
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
We can see what He created every day.
In Genesis, we see after the sixth day, God rested.
So now what is He doing?
Jesus said… "My Father is always at His work
to
this very day, and I, too, am working."
John 5:17
So what on earth is God doing?
There are many predictors of what God is doing.
It could be very presumptuous for
anyone to declare what God is doing.
Paul, declaring the greatness and
majesty of God, asked a question…
"Who
has known the mind of the Lord?" Romans 11:34
Throughout the Scriptures, the creative mind
of God has resolved problems and done
things in ways no one would have expected.
Only history and what God tells us helps us
to understand what He has done on earth.
Presuming we know what God is
doing can hinder us from knowing.
John says… The Spirit of the Lord is like
a
wind blowing where ever it wills.
We can see like never before.
At any moment, the internet can
show us events around the world.
Yet, it can be hard for us to see the hand of God.
It can also be discouraging as we open the mail
and wonder how we will pay the bills.
Then see on the news the great
debt of the earth’s nations.
We cannot be God’s counselors.
We may not be able to see clearly what God is doing.
The earth still is the Lord’s and the fullness of it.
He is in control and He wants us to find
out what He is doing
and join Him.
We can be grateful… We don’t have to presume.
God tells us in His Word what He
is doing and His Spirit reveals to us.
What
eye has not seen and ear has not heard and
the
things He has prepared for those who love Him.
Don’t be presumptuous… Know your limits in God.
Scripture Reading
Romans
11:33-34 NIV
33 Oh, the
depth of the riches of the
wisdom and knowledge of God!
How
unsearchable his judgments,
and his
paths beyond tracing out!
34 "Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his
counselor?"
Psalm
19:12-13 ESV
Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
13
Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins;
let them not have dominion over me!
Then I shall
be blameless,
and innocent
of great transgression.
